Jacqulyn Huddleston Obituary

JACQULYN "JACKIE" HUDDLESTON
MISSION - Jacqulyn Pearl Huddleston, 61, was born August 19, 1946 in Kennett, Mississippi to Homer and Lorna Small. She went to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, June 2, 2008. Jackie was surrounded by her family and loved ones as she left this earth to go Home. Jackie was a faithful and active member of the North Mission Church of Christ.
On November 6, 1964, Jackie married T. Paul Huddleston, who survives of the home. Jackie leaves her mother, Lorna Small of Mission; two sons and their wives, Jason and Connie Huddleston of Mission and Hampton and Renee Huddleston of Edinburg; four grandchildren, Meagan and Austin Huddleston of Mission and Hunter and Trevor Huddleston of Edinburg; one "adopted" daughter, April Wilson of Mission; two brothers, Tony Small and Terry Small; a niece and her husband Dendea and Roy Balli and nephew Randy Small; many aunts, uncles and cousins; and many, many loving and dedicated friends.
Jackie was preceded in death by her father, Homer Small.
Jackie was dedicated to her family. She and Paul maintained a wonderful marriage, she treasured her sons, and then came along her grandchildren. "Nana" adored her grandchildren and doted on their every whim. Each of the four children had their own special relationship with Nana.
Jackie and Paul moved to the valley in 1977 from Missouri. They teamed with Jackie's parents and built Bentsen Grove RV Park. They later sold the park and became managers of BGRV Park. Later, they purchased Bentsen Palm RV Park until recently when they sold out and started seeking retirement.
After Jackie was diagnosed with cancer in 2002, she became a cancer warrior and was active in Relay for Life by raising money for cancer research. Her family and friends plan to continue helping her fight for this cause in honor of her memory.
Visitation will be held today, Thursday, June 5, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ric Brown Funeral Home in Mission. A funeral will be held Friday, June 6, 2008 at 11:30 a.m. at the North Mission Church of Christ in Mission. Jason Huddleston, her eldest son, and Tim Ousley will officiate along with special words from Hampton Huddleston, her youngest, and others. Interment will follow at Rio Grande Valley State Veterans Cemetery in Mission.
Pallbearers will be Jason and Austin Huddleston; Hampton, Hunter, and Trevor Huddleston, Mark Huddleston; Mike Birdwell; Jesse Ramirez; Jerry Stwan; Tom Shawhan; and Doug Dobbins.
Memorial donations may be made to Sunny Glen Children's Home in Harlingen.
Services are under the direction of Ric Brown Family Funeral Home in Mission.

Paul, I miss Jackie's smile and her "You betcha". She was a wonderful wife, mother, Nana and friend. I know that she was so proud of you all at her funeral. It was beautiful, the songs and spoken words. The balloons were awesome I've never seen them go so high and straight up to heaven. We love you and hold you all close in our prayers and hearts.

Paul and famuly,
It has been a pleasure knowing you, and Jackie was an inspiration to me and I loved her dearly as a friend. God has surely blessed her for her tireless work as a cancer survivor. I also am a surivivor and it is because of Jackie that I have continued on with the optimistic outlook which I attribute to your wonderful lady.
My sincere sympathy in your loss.

Paul , it must have been an amazing journey God led Jackie and yourself on. What little time we knew you guys (5 years) roughly before we moved, Jackie was an inspiration and you. Jackie and You came to our aid in a time of need and we were so blessed by it. If I could only help you . We truly missed you July 6th while you were in Washington and we were in the valley. Paul as I serve as an elder now at MaryEllen & Harvester I look at you as an example for compassion and meekness and your quite peace with the people you shepard. Thank you brother for that. Paul may the God above bless you and keep you in His boundless mercy and grace.

We know how special Nana's grandkids were to her. We saw this passage/poem and we thought of how special Jackie was in the little hearts of her grandbabies.

NANA
You were a bright spark,
That shone like a star,
You touched so many hearts,
Now we are apart,
Memories of you are kept locked in my heart,
At least you’re in no more pain,
One day we’ll meet again,
Through your life,
You’ve made so many people happy,
As you were a cheerful, warm-hearted lady,
Now that you are gone,
We all have to try carry on,
Even though you’re an angel,
With you not here with me is really painful,
When I think of you,
I remember all the things you used to do,
I miss you Nana,
More and more,
I just can’t stop the tears that form.

Paul,
My heart was saddened as I heard of your tremendous loss.My mind wanders back years ago to the beautiful young couple that I enjoyed so much.We did so many things together but you would never let me win at flag football,or any oter sport Only guitar playing. Then you and I ended up at Ft.Lewis and after training you were off to Vietnam. Jackie prayed for your safe return everyday. Her prayers were strong and you came home to her. I came home and married one of your
class mates Linda Higgins. Now I just
want to pray for you and your family
and shed some tears with a dear old friend.

Dearest Paul,
I read a short story in Readers' Digest once from a young mother . She lived in a neighborhood with an older couple who had "adopted" her daughter as a grandchild.
After the "grandfather" died, the little girl went to see the widow.
When the little girl returned home, her mother was asking about the visit. The girl replied, "I was helping Mrs. Smith". The mother asked how.
The little girl answered, "I climbed up into her lap and helped her cried".
Sometimes we don't know the right words to say, but I think the little girl knew exactly what to do.
I know your family and friends are helping you cry as I am.
I know Jackie was a wonderful wife and mother. I was blessed by knowing her. I will miss her.
Love,
Sis

Mr. Huddleston (Paul),
Words cannot express how sad I became when I learned of the passing of your lovely wife--Jackie. Jackie was not just a patient at the office where I work. Jackie was a very dear friend and an ANGEL on this earth. Even with her illness, she never complained about her pain. She was always so bubbly, happy and always had her beautiful smile. We know that she is now walking streets of gold, free of pain and glowing with her dad and all the angels in Heaven. May Our Lord give you strength to accept your loss. Jackie would not want you to be sad. I will MISS HER VERY, VERY much.

To all the Huddleston Family,

I hope you know your entire family is in my family's thoughts and prayers. Although I had not seen Jackie in a long while, I wanted to let you know that she meant a great deal to me since I was a young child playing at your home. She was and will always be one of the sweetest and kindest persons I have ever known and she will never be forgotten. While I know she is now an Angel in heaven, in my eyes she was already an Angel before.

Paul,
Where do I start. Jackie was my dearest most precious friend. We shared a whole lot of laughs, fun crazy times and also shed tears together. My journey through life would not have been complete without her. I could just hear her on Monday saying "Hey Girl, I'm finally here and it's WONDERFUL!!!"
I'm gonna miss our 2 hour phone calls and hugs. I will treasure all the times that we spent together and I can't wait to hear those words again "Hey girl" when she meets me at Heavens gate. Till then she will live on in my heart. Proverbs 31:10-31 describes Jackie perfectly and I'm so very happy to be able to call her my very special friend. Jackie, I'll see you in the "by and by" and your right, "the best is yet to come".
Love, Madonna
