James A. McAndrew, 82, of Scranton, died Tuesday morning at Regional Hospital of Scranton after a brief illness.
Born in Scranton, son of the late Anthony and Margaret Timlin McAndrew, James attended Scranton public schools and served during World War II in the Navy. He was employed by the Delaware Lackawanna Western Railroad as a trainman.
He is survived by three sisters, Marguerite Regan, Scranton; Kay Brundage, Folcroft, Pa.; and Maureen Balish, Highlands Ranch, Colo.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a sister, Lois Salmon.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in the Holy Family Residence Chapel, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton, celebrated by his cousin, the Most Rev. James C. Timlin, D.D. Interment will follow in Cathedral Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Holy Family Residence. Memorial contributions may be made to the Holy Family Residence, 2500 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
