Angelo "Sonny" Ambrosecchia, 82, of Olyphant, died Sunday evening at the Gardens of Green Ridge, Scranton. He is survived by his wife, the former Mary Colachino.
Born in Dunmore, son of the late Joseph and Mary Romano Ambrosecchia, he was a member of St. James Church, Jessup. He was a graduate of Scranton Technical High School and he had been employed by the Pennsylvania Gas and Water Co. before retirement. He was a United States Army veteran serving as a medic in Korea.
He was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who enjoyed horseracing, gardening, but especially spending time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
His family would like to thank the staff of the Gardens at Green Ridge and Personnel Home Health Care And Hospice for their kind and considerate care.
Surviving are a daughter, Lisa Wagner and husband, Richard, Olyphant; a son, Angelo Ambrosecchia Jr. and wife, Jenilyn, Madison Twp.; six grandchildren, Brody Caines, A J Ambrosecchia, Ellie Ambrosecchia, Brittni Caines, Kelli Caines; and P.J. Caines and wife, Erica; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Carmen Gurney and husband, George, Tunkhannock; and Joy Staff and husband, Ken, Oklahoma; a brother, Martin Ambrosecchia and wife, Joanne, Scranton; nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by a son, Joseph Ambrosecchia.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Frank T. Mazur Funeral Home Inc., 601 Dundaff St., Dickson City. Inurnment will take place at Cathedral Cemetery.
