Carole E. Petorak, 76, of Carbondale, died Saturday at the Forest City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Her husband is Paul Petorak and the couple celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary on June 23.
Born in Carbondale, she was the daughter of the late Alfred and Frances Ross Thomas. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, Carbondale.
Before retirement, she was employed in the housekeeping department for the First National Bank, Carbondale, and before that she worked in the bakery department at the Weis Supermarket and the former Bi-Lo Supermarket, Carbondale. She loved her dog, Kyle, and gardening.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Forest City Nursing Center for the excellent and compassionate care given to Carole.
Also surviving are two daughters, Lisa Hedden and husband, Brian, Waymart; and Karen Oakey and husband, Jason, Dickson City; four grandchildren, Brianna and Brian Demchak, and Isabella and Xander Oakey; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by three brothers, James, Gerald and Robert Thomas.
The funeral will be Tuesday in the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with services at 11 a.m. by Pastor Donald Perry. Interment, Union Dale Cemetery. Friends may call Tuesday from 10 a.m. until service time.
