Noreen M. (Skorenki) Candelino, age 81, most recently of South Abington Twp., passed away Sunday at the University of Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia after an illness. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 50 years, Rocco P. Candelino, on May 2, 2011.
Born in Elizabeth, N.J., on May 15, 1939, Noreen was the daughter of the late Ursula and Joseph Skorenki. Educated in Elizabeth schools, she worked as an administrative assistant prior to her retirement.
She moved to the region to live with her daughter upon Rocco's death. A die-hard New York Yankees fan, above all else came her three grandchildren whom she adored. Now reunited with her husband, she will long be missed by her loved ones.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cheryl Rowe and husband, Joseph of Taylor; three adoring grandchildren, Joseph, Marissa and Jessica Rowe; and many nieces and nephews.
The last of five siblings, three brothers and a sister also preceded her in death.
Her family would like to acknowledge and thank the nursing staff of Abington Manor, where she had most recently resided; the Davita Dialysis of both Old Forge and Scranton; and the doctors and nursing staff of UPENN Hospital for the wonderful care given to Noreen throughout her illness.
Private arrangements are under the care of the Thomas P. Kearney Funeral Home Inc., 517 N. Main St., Old Forge.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Noreen's name to the American Diabetes Association, c/o P.O. Box 7023, Merrifield, VA 22116-7023.
