Joann Alice Cummings, 89, of Carbondale, died Wednesday at Moses Taylor Hospital, Scranton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James F. Cummings, who died March 28, 1996.
Born in Carbondale, daughter of the late Joseph P. Livsey and Alice Burns Flood Livsey, she was a member of St. Rose of Lima Church, Carbondale. She was a graduate of Benjamin Franklin High School, class of 1949. She was previously employed as an inspector at the Barbizon Factory in Jessup. She was a loving homemaker, wife, mother and grandmother.
Surviving are a daughter, Joann Smith, Breesport, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Jonathan and David Smith; two great-grandchildren, Theodore and Henry Smith; three sisters, Dorothy LaQuaglia, Bloomfield, N.J.; Mildred Griffin, Englewood, Fla.; Marion Niffen, Vestal, N.Y.; and numerous nieces and nephews
She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Robert Flood, Eugene, William and Joseph Livsey; and two sisters, Margaret Curtis and Mary Purkaple.
The funeral will be Tuesday from the Brennan & Brennan Funeral Home Inc., 55 Lincoln Ave., Carbondale, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. in St. Rose of Lima Church, 6 N. Church St., Carbondale. Interment will follow in Our Mother of Sorrows Cemetery, Finch Hill. Friends may call Tuesday morning at the funeral home from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

It´s been awhile but please accept our condolences. I´ve found that grief gives way to great memories over time but losing your mom hits hard. Hope all is well as you move on

Sending prayers to Joanne's family. Had wonderful memories with Joanne and Jim when we lived at 78 Lincoln Ave. She was a precious loving person.
