Mary Louise Dodge, 78, of Lake Winola, died at Allied Services Hospice Center, Scranton, on Thursday evening, March 25, 2021, with her family by her side.
She was born in Lake Winola on Nov. 26, 1942, daughter of the late Walter and Ruth Szerafinski, she was the beloved wife of James Dodge for 56 years.
She was a graduate of Falls-Overfield High School, Bloomsburg State Teachers College and was employed as an elementary teacher at Abington Heights School District until her retirement in 2001. Upon retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her husband, reading, attending her covenant Bible group, and time with her grandchildren. She was a member of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church.
Surviving are her husband, James Dodge; son, James Dodge and his wife, Andira of Orangeville; daughter, Amy Walsh and her husband, John of Dalton; her grandchildren, John Jr., Ben, Gina and Jessica; and sister, Lara Shader of Elizabethtown. She was preceded in death by her sister, Gloria Eastwood.
Funeral service will be Monday at 11 a.m. from Harding-Litwin Funeral Home, 123 W. Tioga St., Tunkhannock, with Pastor Jon Buxton of the Tunkhannock United Methodist Church presiding. I´m so sorry to hear of Mary´s passing. She was such a wonderful person and such a good teacher. I worked with Mary at Newton Ransom School until she retired.
