Debra P. Benway of Mt. Laurel Estates, East Mountain, in Scranton, died Saturday, July 31, 2021, at Geisinger Community Medical Center. Her husband of 17 years is David L. Benway Jr.
Born in Scranton, she was the daughter of Audrey Gratkowski Eiden and the granddaughter of Beatrice and Joseph Eiden. Debra was a doctor of nursing practice. She studied in New York, Philadelphia and Arizona.
Her interests included ocean cruising and fishing with her husband and online casino games.
Also surviving are twin children, Nick and Dana Brosso; grandchildren, Emily, Elise, Ryan and Zachary; and step-children, David and Jonathan Benway.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Audrey Gratkowski Eiden; and grandparents, Beatrice and Joseph Eiden.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 21, at 10 a.m. in St. John Neuman Parish at Nativity Church of Our Lord Church, 633 Orchard St., Scranton, with the Rev. Jonathan Kuhar as celebrant.
Friends and family may pay their respects Saturday in the church from 9 until time of Mass.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements and onsite cremation are under the care and direction of Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., Scranton.
