Teresa S. Mulderig, 91, of Mountain Top, passed away on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021, at the Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Plains Twp.
She was born in Scranton, on Oct. 4, 1930, the daughter of the late Joseph and Teresa (McCrea) Schirra. She was a graduate of St. Paul's High School, Scranton, the Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Scranton, and Marywood College, Scranton.
Teresa was a registered nurse who was employed by several local hospitals. She went on with her career and was employed by the Army Ordinance Department, Scranton, and then served as an instructor at Allied Medical Careers, Wilkes-Barre, until her retirement and where she received the Department of Education Commendation Award.
She also worked part time for 15 years in the coat and dress department for the Hess Department Store at the Wyoming Valley Mall which later became Kaufman's. Along with her husband and many others, Teresa was instrumental in establishing the Mountaintop Area Library which later became the Marian Sutherland Kirby Library. She was a very active member of St. Jude Parish, Mountain Top, where she served on the First Parish Council, and was a member of the Scripture Sharing Group. She also was a lector and CCD Teacher at the parish and a member of Social Action Committee.
Teresa served on the board of the Marywood Alumni Association. Teresa volunteered her time at the American Red Cross and served on the Planning Commission for Fairview Twp. for over 10 years before relocating to Rice Twp. She enjoyed antiquing and was always eager to learn about history.
Also preceding her in death was her husband of 19 years, Attorney Frank W. Mulderig in 1982; son, Michael Mulderig in 2015; and brother, Joseph Schirra.
Surviving are daughters, Katie Mulderig and Molly Mulderig; four grandchildren, Clare and Tim Mulderig and Keelan and Erin Tollinger; sister, Nancy Werner and her husband, George; daughter-in-law, Holly Mulderig; nephew, Karl Werner and family; along with many cousins.
Family and friends are invited to a Memorial Mass on Saturday, Dec. 4, 2021, at 11 a.m. at St. Jude Parish, 420 S. Mountain Blvd., Mountain Top. Calling hours will be at the church from 10 until the time of service. Private interment will be held at the convenience of the family at Cathedral Cemetery, Scranton.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Teresa's memory to St. Joseph's Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.

Teresa was such a beautiful person inside and out. She cared for so many in her lifetime. May she rejoice with her husband and son. Prayers and love to her daughters.
