Frederick Roosevelt Loney Jr.

Frederick Roosevelt Loney Jr., 79, died on Tuesday July 29, 2008, at home from complications of Parkinson's Disease.
Born in New Rochelle, N.Y., he graduated with honors from Tabor Academy in Marion, Mass. Mr. Loney was a graduate of Williams College class of 1951, where he was a member of St. Anthony Hall.
During the Korean War he served in the U.S. Army.
He and the former Nancy Hope Shevers were married in Scarsdale, N.Y., in June 1953.
From 1951 to 1997, Mr. Loney's entire career was with J.P. Morgan in New York and its predecessors, The Guaranty Trust Company and Morgan Guaranty. His specialty was institutional investments for organizations such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Vatican and countries, such as Abu Dhabi and Kuwait.
Mr. Loney spent every summer of his life in Watch Hill, and became a year-around resident in 2002.
He had a great love of golf, the sea and travel. A past president of The Misquamicut Club in Watch Hill, he also had worked for the St. Anthony Educational Foundation and been a member of the Vestry of St. James' Church in New York City. Mr. Loney was a member of The Misquamicut Club, The Watch Hill Yacht Club, and the Hope Club of Providence.
Besides his wife of 55 years, he is survived by a daughter, Susan Allen Loney, and a son, Frederick Roosevelt Loney III, both of Providence, and two grandchildren, Alice Oestreich and Henry Oestreich.
The memorial service will take place at the Watch Hill Chapel on Tuesday, Aug. 5, at 11 a.m.
