Dear Pamela, Michael and Kathryn I was thinking of your mother (grandmother) recently not knowing that she had passed away I guess I'm not to aware of the happenings that go on around me and I do so apologize, but after hearing this, to say the least I was overcome with sadness and quite frankly don’t know what to say, so I shall say what is in my heart. I am deeply sorry for your loss which is such a great loss and quite unimaginable. Your mother was a great lady, kind, loving and very forgiving. I can only say that I had the honor of knowing your mother and being fortunate enough to have been able to communicate with her in the past few years through letters and that was a very good thing so I say this in closing. If there is anything that we can do, please don’t hesitate to ask, we are very easy to find..
With much love,

Helen was a warm and wonderful woman. She was so generous and helpful when I was conducting historical research on a family topic-- without knowing her I suddenly felt I had found a friend. She put me at ease and was always full of hospitality and kindness.
My condolences to the family. I am remembering Helen with a grateful heart.

Dear Pam, Mike & Kate, I have been thinking of Helen for at least a couple of weeks now but without knowing the present circumstance. Having just found out, I am truly sorry for your loss and the loss of a true lady in all respects. I can only echo the many things said by others here...with time, may peace come to you all and then also the ablilty to celebrate a life lived happily and well. My thoughts/prayers are definitely with you now.

Helen has been and will continue to be an inspiration for me. A new arrival to New London with the daunting task of reviving and reinvingorating the Garde Theater, I met this incredible woman with a love of life, laughter and community. She never ceased to encourage me and so many others. I had the joy of traveling with her and of working with her on behalf of causes she held dear. The tens of thousands of folks who have been - and willl continue to be - entertained, challenged and inspired by the Garde, are in part Helen's living legacy. Please accept, on behalf of myself and the Garde Arts Center, our deepest sympathies, as well as our gratitude for having Helen in our lives.

Our love and sympathy to Pam, Mike, and Kate.
My last memory of Helen was as she passed the cottage, rather jauntily, headed to get her car. We knew her only briefly but fell in love with her as did our daughter, a guest in the cottage.

My sincere condolences to Pam, Michael and Kate. A great lady has left this Earth. Helen was from the "old school". She knew exactly what to do and say in every situation. She was the complete package: gentle, sincere, loving, warm-hearted, funny, spunky, tenacious at the right times, and always willing to lend an ear to a friend, no matter how trivial the subject matter might be. She has been a great friend to everyone in my family, and she will be forever missed. Rest in Peace, Helen.
