Wayne Ferguson Obituary

Wayne V. Ferguson, 84, formerly of Westerly, died Aug. 12, 2007, at the RI Veterans Home in Bristol.
Joining the military right after high school, he became a lieutenant colonel in the Air Force where he was a pilot serving in WWII, the Korean Campaign, and the Vietnam Conflict. In addition, he was an Air Force instructor pilot, retiring in 1966.
He then went back to college and became an industrial arts teacher. His interests included hunting, fishing, golf, skiing, photography and, traveling.
In 2002, he came to Rhode Island to live with his daughter, Wendy Mahoney of Westerly.
Born in Mitchell, Neb., he was the son of the late Floyd and Helen (Reinhardt) Ferguson.
He is survived by his two children, Wendy Mahoney of Westerly and Wayne Jr. of Marion, Ind. He was a loving grandfather to Shannon and Summer and to his great-grandson Liam. He was the brother of Gerald Ferguson of Penn ValIey, Calif., and Jeraldine Miller of Twin Falls, Idaho.
He was also the brother of the late Donovan and Roy Ferguson.
He will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
There will be a private graveside service on Thursday, Oct. 4, at 11 a.m. at the RI Veterans Cemetery in Exeter.
The family is inviting all family and friends to visit with them on that day from 1 to 7 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Wendy Mahoney, at 117 Oak St., Westerly.
