John Godfrey Obituary

John R. Godfrey, Jr., 86, of Alton-Bradford Road, Bradford, died on Oct. 3, 2007 in The Westerly Hospital, following a lengthy illness.
Born in West Warwick, Godfrey was the son of the late John R. Godfrey, Sr. and the late Jessie (O'Dell) Godfrey. He was the beloved husband of Claire M. Godfrey for 60 years.
Godfrey retired from Harris Graphics in 1989, where he worked as an assembler. He was a member of the Machinists and Aerospace Workers' Union, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II (honorable discharge). He enjoyed riding his tractor and farming, and also raised strawberries years ago.
In addition to his wife, survivors include his son John R. Godfrey III, of Westerly; two brothers, Ralph Godfrey of Hope Valley and Bob Godfrey of Athol, Mass.; and two sisters, Evelyn Champlin of Exeter and Isabel Godfrey of Cranston.
He is pre-deceased by three brothers: Charles, Nelson, and Fred Godfrey; and also by two sisters, Shirley Hamilton and Helen Godfrey.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Gaffney-Dolan Funeral Home, 59 Spruce St., Westerly. Callings hours will precede the funeral service, which will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will be in River Bend Cemetery, Westerly.

Aunt Claire & Cousin John
Sorry to hear of Uncle Johnny's passing. Our deepest sympathy's are with you at this time. Heard of your loss from Uncle Ralph. Please let us know if we can do anything.
