Betty T. Serra

Betty T. Serra, 90, of 1 Midway Ave., Westerly, wife of the late William J. Serra, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at The Westerly Hospital surrounded by her loving family.
Born in Westerly on April 27, 1917, a daughter of the late Thomas and Theresa (Nigrelli) DiPaola, Mrs. Serra worked as a head cashier at the S&S Market (later Food Fair Market).
She was a communicant of Immaculate Conception Church and a member of the Daughters of Isabella and the Third Order of Mary.
She loved baking, which she shared with others, and sewing, but most of all she loved spending time with her devoted family.
She leaves behind her loving daughter, Diane S. Prete and her husband George of Westerly; granddaughter, Jennifer Prete Wasfy and her husband Jean Guy Wasfy of Westerly; grandson, Andrew Prete and his wife Cynthia of Barrington; three great-grandchildren, Payton and AJ Prete and Jake Wasfy; and a sister, Nora Luther and a brother, Vito DiPaola, both of Westerly.
Besides her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Ann Valliere, Lee Serra, Sally Devine, and three brothers, Michael, Larry and Joseph DiPaola
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial Wednesday at 10 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 111 High St., Westerly. Burial will follow in St. Sebastian Cemetery. Calling hours today are 4 to 8 p.m. in Buckler-Johnston Funeral Home, 121 Main St., Westerly.
