A day-care center fire Friday killed 42 babies, toddlers and other young children in the Sonoran capital of Hermosillo.
The fire started at an adjoining tire and vehicle warehouse leased by the state government. It spread to the roof of the ABC Day Care, sending flames raining down on the children, an Hermosillo fire official said.
When the fire broke out, an estimated 142 children, ranging in age from 6 months to 5 years, were in the day-care center along with six staffers.
Authorities have said most victims died from smoke inhalation.
Dozens of children remain hospitalized in Mexico and the United States, some in critical condition.

No words can express the pain and tough times ahead for all of the families effected by that days events. Only god can give comfort to the parents, grandparents, and extended family of all who were called up that horrible day, but a new life began for them that same day. Words cannot express how sorry I am to hear of such a tragic event. It saddens me deeply for every relative, friends and aquintances of the children who have passed. Although this happend far away, I am touched by having known someone in Hermosillo who lost her granddaughter. Although it is a mystery in how God plans our lives, I trust in him that all the angels he selected were for a purpose. We never know what the next day brings, our futures are in God's hands, and we must live each day in prayer and thanksgiving. I pray for everyone who needs consolation and to all who helped from near and far. The holy innocents are in a better place. We continue to live, but others will live in pain for such a long time, God bless them, may they be consoled.

I have never lost a child yet my heart grieves for every one of you who are going through those deep deep waters now. We often do not understand how something like this can happen but I would beg you to hold on to the promises of the Bible and know that every one of those precious children are even more precious to our Heavenly Father. It seems hard to believe but God deos have a plan for each of you and, as you go through this together and sometimes alone, never forget that we are all on loan to this world and that there is such a better place for all of us in Heaven. I can promise that not one of your children would choose to return here now that they have rested in the arms of God.
