Diane

You were a class act. Always thinking outside the box. As the trainer for Seattle Reservations, your greatest challenge was to encourage the reservations agents to convert as many calls as possible into sales. You did very well. I truly enjoyed working with you. Your presence will be missed both in your beloved city of Tucson and by all the friends you created while at Alaska Airlines.

Dear Diane,

With a heavy heart, I can only say how much you will be missed down here with us. I worked with and was room-mates with Diane in Prudhoe Bay. She always had a smile to share and was always willing to lend a helping hand. Diane, I haven't seen you in so many years, but am so saddened by your early departure. I can still picture that big numbered alarm clock of yours that I could read across the room even w/out my contacts on. You were a lot of fun and we will miss you.

I met Diane 28 years ago when I was first hired at Alaska Airlines, and we shared a room when working together in Prudhoe Bay for the better part of 4 years. She has left us much too soon.

As I read the guest book with so many familiar names, it says so much to me about how many lives Diane touched in such a positive way.

My prayers are with her family for their loss. Know that she will be missed by many.

We met several years ago through involvement in the union and then had the opportunity to work together in Prudhoe Bay just before her retirement. I was so impressed with her energy and creativity. When I think of her sense of humor and wonderful belly laugh, I will always smile. What a character! Diane, I'm so sorry you're no longer with us, but sister, it won't be long. In the scheme of eternity, we're following right behind you.

To the family-- Diane had a great personality and as an ASA flight attendant we ran into each other alot over our Alaska careers from Prudoe Bay to Tucson. We were also friends in high school. I always viewed Diane as an Earth Angel so I know her residence has just changed; but she is still an Angel. My prayers to her family. I will miss my friend.

I was deeply saddened to hear of Diane's passing. She was a beautiful person, always so positive and helpful to everyone she met...definitely an asset to everyone who knew her or came in contact with her. She will be missed by so many! My thoughts and prayers go out to her family. Thank you for sharing her with us!

Several words come to mind when I think of Diane. She could be described by the word "giving" and that word applies to people, animals and social causes. She willingly shared her home with me during my last few months at Alaska and this is when I really saw her amazing ability for multi-tasking. I've never known anyone who could take on so many completely different projects at once. She was a dedicated, loyal union sister and I will miss her very much.

Diane was always a force to be reckoned with! What a dynamo! I am sad to hear of her passing. I worked with Diane for 23 years and will never forget her passion and hard work! I am thankful that I was able to share a room with her during our time in Prudhoe Bay when she would be getting ready to get out and I had just arrived for my two week stint! Over the course of my life at Alaska Airlines she was truly a breath of fresh air! Although we didn't always see eye to eye, I appreciated her take on things and her acceptance of those who disagreed with her. My heartfelt prayers to her family and all who will miss this wonderful woman.

My memories of Diane in Prudhoe Bay recalls her wonderful belly laugh. She would lift up her chin, look directly at you, and laugh with gusto. She was smart, kind and could argue with the best of them. She had an affect on the people she touched - it was genuine and from the heart. Thankyou Diane!

Unbelieveable,a gem, one of a kind, and I could go on, but anyone who really knew Diane Matz, realized she had a fire in her belly to make a difference in this world. Big or small the triumph was still sweet to her. I'm really going to miss the fact that we've lost a true advocate for the little people. Diane shine bright, because you were a star by far to unappreciated.

March 15, 2006

What a surprise..Diane was so young and such a life force..When Diane was in Seattle she was President of the International Assn of Machinists Local Lodge 2202 and I was VP she would call me day and night to attend meetings, go to protests, go to rallies, she was a dynamo. Fiercely determined and passionate about human rights. During the years we worked together she signed me up for every known cause. For years I was getting gay newletters (I swear she signed me up for them)

We agreed, we disagreed, we worked side by side on things we believed in. She will be missed. She was a force of nature and had way too many more windmills to tilt before her time was up...I hope to see you again later..you can't come to me..so wait up and eventually I will come to you..(I always took some coaxing).. Good Bye my Union Sister.
