Joyce Chavez Obituary
Joyce Chavez, age 77, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, was embraced by the Lord Saturday, December 16, 2017 and taken to her Heavenly home. She was born in St. Louis, MO and was a resident of Albuquerque, NM.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Dorothy Tennison; brother, Richard Tennison; and a son, Christopher Chavez.
Joyce is survived by her loving husband of 59 years, Joe A. Chavez; her children, Marybeth Duran, Joseph Chavez, James Chavez, Jane Chavez, Charles Chavez (Lupe Chavez), and Richard Chavez; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many relatives and friends. Joyce will be greatly missed by her loving family and by those whose lives she touched.
Visitation will be Wednesday, December 27, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Garcia Mortuary - Chapel of Angels, located on 8th and Iron. A rosary will be recited Thursday December 28, 2017 at 8:20 a.m. at Saint Anne Catholic Church, 1400 Arenal Rd., SW followed by a Communion Service at 9:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 11:15 a.m. Reception to follow at St. Anne's Parish Hall.
Casket Bearers will be Christopher Chavez, Joseph Chavez, Gabriel Villegas, Jose Villegas, Steven Carrejo, and Jovan Carrejo. Honorary Bearers will be Michael Chandler, Paul Corona, Frank Carrejo, Ray Dominguez, Ron Anderegg, Bryce Winebrenner, Channing Winebrenner, Josiah Villegas, Romolo Corona, Andrea Chandler, Bella Chandler, Gracie Chandler, Megan Winebrenner, Brielle Winebrenner, Valerie Chavez, Ileanna Chavez, Sophia Chavez, Emilee Chavez, Mariah Villegas and Tess Villegas with twins Royce and Maddox, Paisley, Trisha Ramirez, Erika Griego, Skylar, Jocelyn and Makayla Pino.

Such a shock to read of Joyce's passing. We hadn't seen each other for quite a few years, but i will treasure the memories of her and your beautiful family forever. Joyce was a very special person who could make you laugh and she was loved by all. I remember the special times when i lived with you for several months, and will never forget how kind you were to me. Joyce will never be forgotten, I loved her so much.

My heart goes out to The Chavez family. Joyce could light up any room with her beautiful smile and great laugh. I loved babysitting her children many times when she and Joe had a night out. She will be surely missed.
