Ted Barre Obituary

Barre, Ted E.

Ted E. Barre, 66, lifelong resident of Albuquerque passed away suddenly on March 26, 2016.

He is survived by his cherished wife of 36 years, Caryn Barre; his sons, Brent, Ryan and Sean Barre; his daughter and son-in-law, Branden and Marke Murray; his grandchildren, Morgan and Rebecca Murray; his mother, Mary Lou Ottino and step-father James Ottino; his sister, Janet Diewald; his sister and brother-in-law, Carol & George Torres, his step-mother, Sherry Barre; eight nieces and nephews and his large extended O'Malley family.

He was preceded in death by his father, George Barre.

Ted was a graduate of Sandia HS in 1967. He was a member of the Demolay and Past Master Councilor of the Albuquerque chapter. He attended UNM until he was drafted into the armed forces in 1969. He was stationed in Korea during the Vietnam War, then entered the Albuquerque Police Academy after his honorable discharge in 1975. After his service as an APD officer, as well as a Truth or Consequences police officer, Ted entered his career in banking. He later decided to put away the three-piece suit and use his expertise to start his own business: Barre Handyman Services, allowing him more time to spend with his family and coach little league.

Ted loved gathering with his family, organizing countless trips to Lake Powell and Elephant Butte where he patiently taught many to water ski, and gave many others the rides of their lives. He was a longstanding member of the Abq. Boat Club. He was an avid fisherman, bowler and golfer, and a friend to those wonderful dogs that were a part of his life, Abbey, Casey, Hollie, Brody, and Lilah.

We will celebrate a life well-lived on Monday, April 4, 2016, at 11:00 a.m. at FRENCH - Wyoming. A graveside service will follow at Santa Fe National Cemetery at 3:00 p.m.

To the Barre family,

I was saddened to hear of Ted's passing. I will always remember the many good times we shared around your dining room table playing poker and having our fantasy football drafts as well as out on the golf course. I will miss him greatly.

Best wishes to you all,

Pete

I am so sad at the loss of a great friend who Kim & I have know only for a short time. We enjoyed his company when we would have dinner with Marylou on our annual visits from Colorado. He will be greatly missed.

Caryn,

My heart is broken for you.
My brother says when you lose someone it puts a hole in your heart so you have to tell lots of stories to fill that hole. So tell lots of stories that make you laugh so you can get through the tears.
I wish I was there with you but my heart is.
My condolences to you and your family.

All my love, Velletta
