Floyd M. Reimers

1929 - 2016

Floyd Melvin Reimers, 86, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away on Sunday, Jan. 17, 2016, at Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson hospital. Floyd was born on June 26, 1929, on the family farm near Courtenay, N.D., the son of William M. and Ella (Scharf) Reimers. He attended a rural school and graduated from Wimbledon School. Floyd enlisted in the U.S. Army and proudly served his country during the Korean War. Upon his honorable discharge, he returned to North Dakota and resumed farming. He was a member of The American Legion. On Nov. 30, 1955, Floyd married Elaine Widmer in Wimbledon, N.D. He retired and moved to Hamilton, Mont., and Milton-Freewater, Ore., before settling in Palmer. Floyd enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving and sightseeing. His greatest love was spending time with his family. Floyd and Elaine proudly celebrated their 60th anniversary in 2015. He will be greatly missed by his wife, Elaine of Palmer; children, Rodney (Sue) Reimers of Jamestown, N.D., Debra (Eric) Rova of Jamestown, N.D., Angela (Dave) Miller of Anchorage, Alaska, Jerry Reimers of Wasilla, Alaska, and Daryl Reimers (Anya Treat) of Palmer; grandchildren, Jon (Heidi) Reimers, Brian (Sandee) Reimers, Jennifer (Eric) Riederer and Faith Reimers; great-grandchildren, Charlotte, Kayla, Janessa, Makayla, Alex and Ella; sister, Darlene Loebrick of Tucker, Ga.; brother-in-law, Ellis "Ole" Fluetsch of Roseburg, Ore.; sisters-in-law, Vi Reimers, Joanne Reimers and Ruby Reimers of Jamestown, N.D.; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Laurence, Henry and William; and a sister, Elaine Fluetsch. Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, 2016, at Kehl's Palmer Mortuary in Palmer, with Pastor Eugene Larmi officiating. A Visitation will be held at 1 p.m. Interment will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Jamestown, N.D. Memorials may be sent to a charity of your preference.
