Randy Johnson Obituary

Randy Johnson, age 62, went to be with the Lord on April 24, 2017.
For 62 years, Randy Johnson's life was one big adventure. Born Aug. 5, 1954, in Bakersfield, Calif., to Zelma and Virgil Johnson, he was the third oldest of eight children. Randy lived in Bakersfield, Calif., in his early adult life, until his family moved to Fairbanks, Alaska.
After high school, he joined the Army National Guard. To be closer to his family, after his military training he transferred to Fairbanks, Alaska, where he met the love of his life, Juita. They married in 1979, and thereafter had their very first child. He moved his wife and oldest child to Benicia, Calif., in November 1979. They expanded their family and had another child in 1981. During his early life, he worked at The Children's Hospital in Oakland, Calif. Alaska was always near and dear to his heart, so, in 1988, he moved his family back to Alaska. After settling his family back to Alaska, he worked for Hope Cottages for many years. Thereafter he and his wife started their own janitorial business, ""Johnson and Johnson Janitorial."" They expanded their family and had two more children in the early '90s.
Randy was an active servant of the lord. He accepted Christ as a child, but dedicated his life to Christ as an adult and was baptized. He loved to read his bible and listen to gospel music. Without question, Randy loved his family. Besides raising his own four beautiful daughters, he was also the father figure to many others as well. His nine grandkids were his life. He made memories with them to last a lifetime. He could tell the best of stories. He enjoyed raising his dogs, collecting coins, repairing jewelry, horseback riding, riding his bike and participating yearly in operation stand down. He had quite the gun collection and loved to go shooting at the rifle range. He volunteered countless times at places like the Brother Francis Shelter and Beans Cafe. He was a member of the VFW and Jack and Jill of America. He loved to witness to others about Jesus. He loved life and, most importantly, loved people. He could talk with a stranger on the street and instantaneously become friends. He had a big heart and would give the shirt off his back if anyone needed it. His church home was Lighthouse Christian Fellowship.
Randy was preceded in death by his brother, Tyrone Johnson. He is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Juita Johnson; both of his parents, Zelma Johnson of Anchorage and Virgil Johnson of Toledo, Ohio; he leaves to honor and cherish the memory of him, his four children, Aracya Johnson, Tangier (Johnson) Walker, La'Nyegia Johnson and Juita I ""Mya"" Johnson; his siblings, Mitchell Colbert, Glenda Johnson, Lorinda Grant, Marchelle Alexander, Johnny Grant and Kevin Wafford; his hearts, his nine grandchildren; sons-in-law; and host of nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.
Randy Johnson's going home celebration will take place at Lighthouse Christian Fellowship on May 12, 2017, at 11 a.m. The repast will follow after the burial at the church and thereafter at Tangier Walker's home.

Growing up I spent a lot of time at the Johnson house and Randy was always the life of the party. He made us laugh and often dropped some real knowledge on us with phrases only he could come up with. He will be dearly missed. With love and many blessings , Tracy Washington
