William Kamm Obituary

William "Bill" Kamm passed away on Oct. 6, 2014, near Sutton, Alaska. He was born on Aug. 29, 1959, in Burbank, Calif., and spent his childhood in Encino, Woodland Hills and Millbrae, California. He graduated from Feather River Prep School in Blairsden, Calif., in 1978. Bill first visited Alaska in 1982, and was a frequent visitor to Alaska until he established residency in the late 1980s. He lived in Indian, Alaska, from 1990-June 2013. Bill was gifted at many aspects of construction and at diagnosing heating problems. He enjoyed cooking, walks, fishing and reading Heating Help online. He was a kind and generous man. Bill loved and helped raise the four children of his former partner, Christopher, Jennifer and Janine Arnold of Anchorage and Emily Arnold of Indian, Alaska. He is also survived by their children and by his four siblings, Marilyn Kamm of Anchorage, Warren Kamm III of Palos Verdes Estates, Calif., Mark Kamm of Lancaster, Calif. and Carol Kamm Cervantes of Escondido, Calif.; and by his niece and four nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Warren Kamm II and Elmas Kamm. A celebration of Bill's life will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at the Kincaid Park Chalet in Anchorage. His remains will be scattered next spring in the Chugach Mountains above the Anchorage bowl. Arrangements are with Janssen's Evergreen Memorial Chapel.

To my family,

On Monday we found out what is wrong with Cairo. His genetic testing found that he has Phelan-McDermid Syndrome. This so rare that there is only around 400 - 1000 people in the world to have it. The doctor didn't know what it is. What does this basically mean:
Cairo has the ability to love and be loved!!! He won't be able to say a word, he will mentally be disabled in this system ... we will have to wait until the new system to really get to know him. Yes, we are "broken" at the moment but with JEHOVAH's help we will endure. Please don't call or text Cindy about this as she is unable to speak about it at the moment. I wanted to tell all of you personally as you are my family. I already called mom and pop and told them. Miss you and love you guys and we really need your prayers.

Bill had a kind heart and possessed a gentle spirit. He didn't have a mean bone in his body. He loved his family deeply and was devoted to and so proud of Christopher, Jennifer, Janine and Emily; whom he thought of as his children. His greatest pleasure was spending time with them and knowing they were well. Bill loved their children as much as any besotted grandfather could. He wanted nothing but the best for all of them. He loved children and dogs and they loved him back. All of his friends will miss him for his consistent good nature, his loyalty and his generosity; not to mention his mechanical genius. I will miss his friendship. May his memory be an inspiration to all of us to treat each other more kindly and gently. Rest in peace, Bill. Sincere condolences to his family.
