Alyce Pacheco Obituary

Alyce Cameron Pacheco, a longtime resident of Fort Bragg, passed unexpectedly of natural causes on July 25th, 2020.
Alyce was born on March 10th, 1943. She graduated from Fort Bragg High School with the class of 1961. In 1967, Alyce started Wee Care Day Care, and she continued this business for 43 years before retiring in December of 2010. She loved taking care of local children, and helped make a difference in many lives.
Alyce met the love of her life, Charlie Pacheco, and built a lifetime of happiness and memories with him. Their joined union began on November 17th, 1983 and they cherished combining their family who Alyce loved so dearly. Her love for people and infectious smile is something all who knew Alyce will remember. She was always the one to take in friends and family members who needed a place to stay. She would give anything and everything she had to give. She was also the life of the party, and almost anyone would say that her party treats, appetizers, and food were a hit at every function she planned or attended. She loved to cook, and nobody would ever leave her house hungry. She also enjoyed gardening, making afghans and keeping busy, especially with planning events.
Alyce loved Fort Bragg and spent many years helping to plan Fort Bragg's Annual High School Reunions. She left Fort Bragg in 2017 to live with her daughter's family and be closer to medical facilities for her beloved Charlie. She continued to keep in contact with everyone from her home town and loved to stay connected through Facebook.
On many occasions, she told her loved ones she did not want a service, and she was quite adamant about this. She said you can all go to church together if you want and say a prayer. She also hoped people would have a drink to honor her memory, and continue to share stories, as well as Facebook posts whenever a thought of her sparks a memory. She will be remembered for her kindness, her love for people, her amazing cooking, and her dedication to her family.
She was preceded in death by her parents: Gene and Mary Cameron, her son Richard Leslie Martin, and her daughter Kelly Lynn Mankinen. She is survived by her husband Charlie Pacheco, her brother Rod Cameron, her daughter Krista Cummings, numerous step children; grandchildren, great grandchildren, cousins, family members, and friends who she adored and lived for.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Children's Miracle Network or Wounded Warriors, or participate in a food drive in honor of her love for feeding others.

This is a picture of Alyce's flowers that she'd sent me in a text message, when I told her how much I missed seeing them. She said they were in her garden. Alyce was such a nice lady and I will miss her very much. My deepest condolences to her family.
