Carlos Montoya

Carlos Montoya, 72, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2011, in Alamogordo. He was born July 1, 1938, in Alamogordo. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather.
Carlos proudly served his country in the United States Army. After military service, he worked at Holloman Air Force Base as a planner for civil engineering for 32 years. He was also a member of the New Mexico National Guard for 22 years. Carlos was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Alamogordo.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Maria de Jesus Montoya, of the family home; four daughters, Beatrice Kinzhuma, of Mescalero, Margarita Montoya, of Alamogordo, Cecilia Sidwell and her husband, Warren, of Las Cruces, and Teresa Montoya, of Alamogordo; and two sons, Alfredo Montoya and his wife, Monica, of Las Cruces, and Jose Montoya, of Las Cruces. He is also survived by his brother Ramon Montoya and his wife, Connie, of Bent; four sisters, Helen Herrera, of San Patricio, Anita Hicks, of Ruidoso, Isabel Reynolds and her husband, Jesse, of Ruidoso, and Cuca Chrisman, of Tularosa; and grandchildren Andrew, Carlos, Marisol and Paloma Montoya, of Las Cruces, Jacintha Medina, of Alamogordo, Brianna and Diego Sanchez, of Alamogordo, Daniel, Gabriel and Nathaniel Sidwell, of Las Cruces, and Joe Gary, Jody and Jozie Arviso, of Mescalero. He is also the great-grandfather of Andrew and Carlos Dutchover, of Mescalero, and is survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents Refugio and Victoria Montoya and a brother, Antonio Montoya.
Rosary and Mass of the Resurrection were celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, June 6, 2011, also at Immaculate Conception Church with Father Juan Montoya as celebrant.
Pallbearers included Carlos Chavez, Richard Herrera, Warren Sidwell, Andrew Garcia-Montoya, Frank Montoya and Jesse Reynolds Jr. Honorary pallbearers were Lorenzo Lopez, Tony Rey, Dina Juarez and all his grandchildren.
Interment followed at Immaculate Conception Catholic Cemetery in Alamogordo.
