Ernest Luevano Obituary

Ernest Luevano

Alamogordo - With profound sadness, the family of Ernest Luevano, 62, shares of his untimely passing on Sunday, December 27, 2020.

Born in Tularosa, New Mexico on September 17, 1958 to Isaac and Millie Luevano, Ernest lived and attended school in Tularosa until he moved to Alamogordo in 1981 with his bride, Robyn - the love of his life.

All who know and love Ernest will never forget him for his entertaining stories and his quick and humorous personality. There was never a time that Ernest could not come back with a witty and funny response, or a joke or two, leaving those around him busting at the seams.

Ernest's gentleness and caring manner also earned him the respect of his family, his friends and his coworkers. He was no stranger to working hard and no stranger to always being willing to jump in to help people out. Ernest took pride in whatever he did, and was a master gardener in keeping meticulous lawns for the City of Alamogordo as well as for his home.

He will be fondly remembered as a loving son, brother, husband, father, father-in-law and grandfather. The greatest pride and joys of his life were his family, taking care of them and insuring they always knew they were loved. He instilled in them strong family values and work ethics. He was lovingly known as "Papa" to his four grandchildren who were the light of his life and who will miss him deeply.

Ernest leaves behind a beautiful family -- survived by his wife of nearly forty years, Robyn, his son Matthew Luevano (Michelle), his daughter Megan Bowman (James) and his four grandchildren, Keyleigh Bowman, Adrie Luevano, Makynna Bowman and Drake Luevano. Also surviving him is sister Josie Worley (Dolph), brother David Luevano (Eva) and numerous nieces and nephews.

Waiting for him at the gates of heaven were his mother and father, Isaac and Millie Luevano, sister Cecilia Centrella, brother Jacob Luevano and father-in-law Jimmie Worley.

The Luevano family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Scenic Chapel.

Cremation has taken place, and a family Memorial Celebration of Ernest's Life was held on Saturday, January 2 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Alamogordo.

It's hard to find words to express how bad I feel for you Robyn and for your children, grandchildren and for Ernest's sister Josie and brother David. Ernest is gone way to soon and an amazing bright light has been extinguished. I will never forget Ernest and will remember him for many things. He was sincere, he was the funniest most lighthearted soul, he was himself take it or leave it, he was kind, he was always ready for a good time and was an amazing dancer, he was amazingly athletic and at least one year rushed for over 2000 yards in a season, he loved his family and friends and was an all around good man! If only more people were like him. I know he rests in peace now in God's heaven with those who went before him. I know that so many of us will always miss him and wish that things had been different for him. With a very heavy heart today I say many prayers for you Robyn and for your family. God speed Ernest. Duerme con los angeles. For so many of us you will always be that lighthearted soul that was taken way to soon.

My sincere condolences to the family. I will miss seeing Ernie in the early mornings stopping by the Family Recreation Center to check in on me and talk about his family. Which he usually came by at least once or twice a week. He always had a smile and always no matter what or where I was stopped to talk to me, even if it was very brief. Not only has he left a hole in his family he left a hole with his co-workers. Rest In Peace Ernie.

Sincerely,
Bonnie Gipson
