Nancy Hutto Obituary

Nancy Allen Hutto, 81, of Tularosa, passed away Friday, May 25, 2012, at her home. Nancy was born April 17, 1931, in Merkel, Texas, to Pickens and Dorothy Allen.
She attended and graduated from UTEP, formerly Texas Western. She was a third-grade teacher for many years and retired from the Tularosa Public Schools. She touched the lives of many children.
She was active in the Native Plant Society, where she was a charter member of the Otero County chapter in the 1980s. She managed the purchase and sale of native plant books for the society from 1980-2000, and promoted native plants at the county fair, along with elementary class demonstrations.
Nancy also taught adult education classes on native plants. She was very instrumental in the beginning with her beautiful flower displays at their Native Plant booth at the county fair. Nancy was also an avid bird watcher and an active member of the Tularosa Senior Center.
Survivors include her son George Allen Hutto, of Tularosa; son-in-law Robert Baca, of Tularosa; three grandchildren, Brandi Lee Baca, of Warrensburg, Mo., Robert Joseph Baca, of Littleton, Colo., and Salomon James Baca, of Tularosa; two great-grandchildren, Gabriella Baca and Trystin Zimmerman, of Warrenburg, Mo.; brother Jerry Allen and his spouse, Phyllis; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Nancy is also survived her good friend Judy Tribble.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Joe Hutto, in 2009; her parents, Pickens and Dorothy Allen; a daughter, Joy Lee Baca, in 2008; and a sister, Dale Sanford.
The Hutto family has entrusted their love one to the care of Hamilton-O'Dell Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
