Shirley Ann Walls

1945 - 2013

Shirley Ann (Rogers) Walls, 68, was gently called home by her Lord and Savior Wednesday, Aug. 7, 2013, at her home in La Luz, after her courageous battle with cancer over the past year.
She was born Aug. 1, 1945, in Torrance, Calif., to Lynn and Kay (Walsh) Rogers Kent where she grew up surfing the beaches of California before moving to New Mexico in 1964.
She is survived by her husband, L.E. Walls, of La Luz; daughter Kim (McLurg) Evans married to Paul Evans, of Artesia; son Bill McLurg married to Misti (Ironmonger) McLurg, of Alamogordo; daughter Rachael (Roach) Lucero married to David Lucero Jr., of Alamogordo; son Galan Roach, of Denver Colo.; daughter Sabra (Roach) Gonzales married to Doty Gonzales, of Rio Rancho; daughter Marlisa (Walls) Bevers, of Roswell; and Linda (Walls) Lopez married to Johnny Lopez, of Artesia; brother Mark Rogers and sisters Cindy Duncan and Tina Walker. Shirley is also survived and loved by 16 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was a strong and gentle Christian with deep compassion and love for everyone. She was the family matriarch and her mission in life was to serve the Lord and pass that love and devotion on to her family and friends. She was the light of any room. She was not only an amazing mother and grandmother, but she was always our confidant and very best friend.
She was preceded in death by her father Lynn Rogers, mother Kay Kent, sister Linda Rogers Sperring, brother Bill Rogers and prior husbands and fathers of her children Bill McLurg Jr. and Bobby Roach.
The celebration of her amazing life and memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, 2013, at Tularosa Community Church with Pastor Randy Borror officiating assisted by Elwin Roach.
The Walls family has entrusted their loved one to the care of Alamogordo Funeral Home to direct the arrangements. Cremation will take place at PCS.
