ESPERANZA S. "HOPE" SAENZ
Esperanza S. "Hope" Saenz, age 85, entered eternal rest May 17, 2025 in San Diego, Texas. She was born October 1, 1939 in Benavides, Texas to Jose and Constancia Saenz. She had a strong work ethic and instilled the same quality in her children, teaching them the value of hard work and dedication. As her illness progressed, she enjoyed coloring which reflected her creativity and imagination. As a laundry attendant, she took great pride in her work. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence were traits that earned her respect and admiration from co-workers and customers. Outside of work, she found solace in the music of Vicente Fernández, her favorite Mexican singer whose traditional mariachi tunes brought her immense joy and comfort. A BBQ in her backyard was a regular occurrence, filled with laughter, good food, and warm company of family and friends. Her love for these gatherings and spending time with her loved ones is a testament to her caring and nurturing nature. Her memory will continue to be cherished by all who knew her, and she will be dearly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jose and Constancia Saenz; two sons, Abelino Martinez Jr. and Gilbert Martinez; and nine siblings.
She is survived by her husband, Jose "Joe" Saenz of Alice; four children, Belinda Perez (the late Adolfo Perez) of Zapata, Belen Valdez (Rene) of Harlingen, Marie Rodriguez (Tony) of Corpus Christi, and Jesse Saenz (Lisa) of Alice; sisters, Sylvia Perales (Gilbert) of Seguin and Diana Ybarra of Houston; 16 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 22, 2025 beginning at 9 a.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel. A rosary will be recited at 10 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10:30 a.m. at Rosas Funeral Home Chapel that same day. Burial to follow at Realitos Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Adolfo Perez III, Robert Perez, Carlos Valdez, Xavier Valdez, Chuey Saenz, and Roland "Dude" Saenz.
