Robert Fisher Obituary

Robert "Bob" Fisher

Tinton Falls - Robert "Bob" Fisher, 85, of Tinton Falls passed away on January 5th, surrounded by his loved ones.

Born in Jeannette, PA, Bob attended Jeannette High School, excelling as a track star. He then went on to attend the University of Pittsburgh, majoring in Electrical Engineering. Following his time at Pitt, he served our nation proudly in the United States Marine Corps., attaining the rank of Sergeant.

Bob moved to Shrewsbury, NJ with his wife of 60 years, Esther Levin, and their four children: Donna Aumack, Mark Fisher, Karen Burke (Kevin), & Marianne Busch (Tony). He worked for the Carborundum Corp., serving as a Product Control Manager for 36 years before his retirement.

In retirement, Bob enjoyed playing golf any time of year, even in the snow. He was an avid bowler, named the Ocean County Senior Champion, and even bowled a perfect 300 game. A passionate Pittsburgh Steelers fan since childhood, his devotion to the black and gold was well known. The Steelers were a constant fixture in his life and that of his family. Bob also cherished all of his friendships he made during his days at the Greenbriar at Winding Ways in Jackson, NJ.

Perhaps most of all, Bob relished spending time with his devoted family, especially with his four grandchildren: Julia Aumack, Kevin Burke III, Shannon Burke, and Tony Busch III. A dog person at heart, Bob also enjoyed the time spent with his four granddogs: Lola, Turk, Marley, and Molly. Whether it was playing board games at the dining room table, watching a Steelers game, or relaxing poolside with a beer and enjoying the beautiful weather and the company of others, Bob was a family man, through and through. A kind and gentle soul, he will be missed dearly by all those who were fortunate enough to get to know him in life.

Uncle Bob was the most fun uncle I could ever ask for. We were only 14 years apart in age. My father moved to Louisiana after WWII, but I spent many summers in Jeannette. My favorite times were when ‘Bobby’ was there, too. We played cards & all sorts of games. As the years went by, the miles seemed longer, and we were both consumed in our own lives and families. It saddens me that we drifted apart. He was a very special person who I will never forget. The memories will be in my heart forever. (The photo is of me, our adopted son & 2 grandsons. It’s a few years but one of my favorites with the boys)
