Thomas Allen Spade

Rick A. Spade, 66, passed away on March 8, 2023 in Anchorage, Alaska. He was born in Concord, California to Harold E. Spade and Mary McBride Spade.

Rick was raised in Olivehurst, California, where he played little league and continued his love of baseball through senior league. He graduated Marysville High and attended Yuba college until he joined the Air Force in 1975. He was trained as an x-ray tech at Lackland AFB and then stationed at Mather AFB, where he met his future wife, Jeanne Gregg. She had a 2 year old son Jason whom Rick loved, then adopted after they married.

Rick and Jeanne were then stationed at Elmendorf AFB in Anchorage, Alaska where Rick felt right at home in the great outdoors. He took full advantage of all the hunting and fishing he could then turned to searching for the best berry patches later in life. Rick chose to get out of the service instead of having to leave Alaska. He was once featured in a Fishing Alaska magazine, sharing his favorite fishing spot. Rick continued his career as an x-ray tech at the Alaska Native Medical Center where he worked for over 20 years before retiring, with a combined federal service of over 30 years. He moved back home for a couple years before he returned to Alaska where he passed away.

Rick is survived by his son Jason of Georgia, his mother Mary Spade, brother Harold and sister Judy of Olivehurst and sister Laura Infield of Bangor, Ca. His Missouri family, Denny Whitener, Larry Whitener, Nancy Dismuke, Denise Kinnerson and Carla Carver. Several aunts and uncles, numerous cousins and a host of friends both in California and Alaska, He was preceded in death by his father Harold E. Spade and brother Carl D. Spade.

A celebration of life is being held at New Life Church, 5735 Arboga Rd. in Olivehurst, April 29, 2023 at 11am. Reception will follow, committal at a later date.
