Theodore Larson

Theodore (Ted) Larson, age 86, passed away on Feb. 14, 2016 from complications of Alzheimer's. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at 2:00 pm at Heritage Funeral Home in Sioux Falls.

Ted Larson was born July 4, 1929 to Olaf and Judith Larson in Wallace, SD. He attended High school in Florence, SD and enlisted in the United States Navy in 1946. He was stationed in San Diego, CA and later was stationed at Puget Sound in the State of Washington.

When honorably discharged from the Navy, Ted settled in Sioux Falls and went to work at Rude's Welding and Fabrication. After several years, he was the owner and operator of the business.

On May 18, 1963, he married Bonnie (Opitz) Larson. They lived in Sioux Falls and in 1965 they moved to Sawyer, MI where he was an inspector on cross country natural Gas pipelines.

He returned to SD in 1981 and worked for Northern Border Pipeline in Brookings, SD retiring in 1995.

Ted was an avid golfer, a member and Past Master of The Masonic Lodge #239, Three Oaks, MI. He was a former member of the Elks Club and the Shrine.

Ted was diagnosed with Alzheimer's/dementia and had been residing at the MN Veterans Nursing Home in Luverne, MN since July 2011.

Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, Bonnie, 3 sons, Jeff (Linda) of Fruta, CO, Jim (Jane) of Albuquerque, NM, Greg (Laurie) of Palm Harbor, FL and two daughters, Linda Williams and Debra Mathews, both of Sioux Falls, 9 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and 3 sisters. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
