Harvey Douglas Anderson, age 84, of Iron River, passed away peacefully with his loving family by his side, Wednesday, November 01, 2023 at his home. He was born in Superior, WI, January 1, 1939, the son of Marvin and Mabel (Peterson) Anderson.
Harvey graduated from Iron River High School in 1957 and attended the University of Wisconsin-Superior. He then served in the U.S. Army from 1958-1962.
Harvey married Barbara Denman on July 26, 1963 in Pine City, MN. He was a Lineman for Dahlberg Light and Power of Solon Springs for 42 years, retiring in 2003.
Harvey served several positions for the Town of Iron River. These positions included Fire Department, Ambulance Service as Director and First Responder/EMT, Side Board Member and Director of the Sanitation Department. He also served as a Custodian for the Bayfield County Fair Grounds, as well as, groomed the trails for the Bayfield County Snowmobile Alliance. As a member of Grace Baptist Church, Harvey was instrumental in the construction of the new church building.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Barb Anderson; 3 children, LeAnne Kay (Steven) Carlson, Lon Douglas (Lisa) Anderson and Mark Darren (Michelle) Anderson; 9 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Marvin and Mable Anderson; brothers, Gaylord and Charles Anderson; sister, Kathleen Wright; grandson, Ryan Michaels Anderson; brothers-in-law, Gerald, Elwood and Robert Denman; sisters-in-law, Beverly Tepoel and Francis Johnson.
A celebration of Harvey's life and military services will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, November 11, 2023 at the Grace Baptist Church in Iron River. Services will be led by Pastor Tom Blomberg and Pastor Lars Dahl.
Visitation and time share stories with the family will begin one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
