Richard L. "Rick" Fairman, Sr.

orange, MA — Richard Fairman, 87, of Fairman Road, passed away on June 24, 2022 at home surrounded by family.

Born in Orange MA, October 8, 1934, he was the son of the late Earl Fairman and Martha (Wilbur) Fairman and grew up in Orange.

He married Karen (Carey) Fairman on October 24, 1964 by the Justice of the Peace in Erving and they enjoyed almost 58 years together.

Rick was self-employed as the owner and operator of Fairman Lumber as well as Fairman Auto Sales.

His hobbies included hunting, fishing, snow mobiling and was a huge NASCAR fan. He was a member of the NRA.

Survivors include his wife Karen of Orange; his children Sherri (Scott) Peters of Orange, Kim (Jimmie) Costa of Athol, Richard Fairman, Jr. (Melanie), and Kathleen (Roger) Hamlett also of Orange. His 11 grandchildren include Nichole McPhee (Eric) of Templeton, Michelle Shaw (Shawn) of Orange, Timothy Peters (Samantha) of Orange, Alicia DiRienzio (Derek) of Orange, Kelly Costa of Athol, Jimmie Costa Jr of Athol, Richard Fairman, III (Abby) of Orange, Chelsea Fairman of Orange, Sydnie Fairman of Athol, Reilly Hamlett of Marietta, GA and Roger Hamlett, Jr of Orange. Rick also had 10 great-grandchildren – Lily Richards (Nichole McPhee), Sebastian Shaw, Mackenzie Shaw and Urijah Shaw (Shelly and Shawn Shaw), Miya Peters (Timothy Peters), Benjamin and Eli Fortner and Jeremiah Fisher (Kelly Costa), Richard Fairman, IV (Richard III) and Jaxon Manjourea (Abby Fairman). He also had many nieces and nephews.

No services at Rick's request. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations made in his name to Central VNA & Hospice, Inc., Office of Fund Development, 34 Pearly Lane, Gardner, MA 01440.
