Family-Placed Death Notice

GLENN L. DAVIS Glenn L. Davis of Atlanta, GA, passed away on Sunday, October 29, 2006. He was born on March 20, 1925 in North Baltimore, OH, and lived in the northwestern Ohio area until leaving to serve his country in the Army Air Force in World War II as a B-24 tailgunner in the Eighth Air Force, 392nd Bomb Group, stationed in Wendling, England. After WWII, Glenn attended and graduated from Baldwin-Wallace College in Berea, OH, where he was a halfback on their football team. After college, while living in Shelby, OH he met and married Joan Gilmore in 1951, and began raising her two sons from a prior marriage, Les and Larry. The family was blessed in 1954 by the addition of a third son, Steve. Glenn's professional career took him to Ohio, Mississippi, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Illinois, and after retiring to Atlanta, GA where he lived until his passing. Early in his professional life, Glenn chose a career as a chemist in the plastics industry as his work passion, and in his later years was instrumental in the development of a prototype for the first plastic soft drink bottle, for which he is the patent holder. After retiring from the plastics industry and moving to Atlanta, Glenn ultimately worked with the Fulton County Animal Control, where he brought his life-long love for animals to those who were neglected by society. Glenn was a loving husband, devoted father, brave Veteran, and a friend of all animals who will be greatly missed. He was preceded in Heaven by his wife, Joan, who passed away in June 2002, and survived by his three sons, Leslie G. Davis (Ann) of Gastonia, NC, Lawrence G. Davis (Amelia) of Roswell, GA, and Steven G. Davis of Chicago, IL; his sister, Jeanette Hock (Harold) of Fort Walton Beach, FL; grandson Major Matthew L.
