BAILEY, Sr., Harold E. Harold E. Bailey, Sr., 95, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home in Atlanta, GA on June 1, 2017. He was born in Hart County, to the late W. Eber and Myrtice Reynolds Bailey. "HB", as he was known to many, was a World War II Army vet. He remained in the Army reserves until he retired a Lieutenant Colonel. He was a graduate of the University of Georgia and was a die hard Bulldog. He was the eighth registered Landscape Architect in his beloved state of Georgia and founder of Harold E. Bailey Landscape Company & Nursery. He continued work in his company until January 2017 and he was very generous in donating to organizations for the betterment and beautification of their grounds; UGA, Young Harris College and Chastain Park Conservancy to mention a few. He was a lover of the great outdoors, an avid quail hunter and gardener. He is survived by his daughters, Cynthia (Bill) George of Denton, TX, Camille Patton of Habersham, GA, and daughter-in-law, Edlene Hiles Bailey of Atlanta; granddaughters Heather (Robert) Page, Kristin (Kasey) Melton, Morgan (Cody) Floyd, Kathryn (Ryan) Hobbs, Sophie Cook and Rebecca Bailey; niece, Ann Atkinson; and great grandchildren; (Keelin, Zeke, & Zane Melton) (Lacey, & Amber Page). He was preceded in death by his wife of almost 60 years, Velma Ellen Morgan Bailey, his son, Harold E. Bailey, Jr., "Ed", his siblings, W. Carey Bailey, Elizabeth (Lee) Atkinson, and Virginia (Charles) Parham; and son-in-law, John Patton IV. Harold's life touched so many, and his influence and legacy will live on. A graveside memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 21, at the Nancy Hart Memorial Park, 1171 Royston Highway, Hartwell. The family will receive friends after the memorial service at the Hartwell First United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the South Georgia State College (SGSC) Foundation to the W. E. and Harold E. Bailey Family Scholarship, 100 West College Park Drive, Douglas, GA 31533.
