Dear Joyce and Ayers Family,
I am very sorry to hear of Chief Ayers passing. He was a kind man with a great sense of humor. I enjoyed my time serving with him on Mt. Park Fire Rescue. He still gave back with his administration volunteer services to the fire department even though he was no longer fighting fires. It was warming to be in Lew and Joyce’s presence in their volunteer efforts. God bless.

I spent many wonderful days and nights during my teen years at the Ayer's house on the lake in Mt. Park. I always remember how nice and how much fun Mr. Ayers was. He and Mrs. Ayers always treated us all like we were an extension of their family, and I never forgot that. My heart goes out to Mrs. Ayers, Judy, Lew, Janet and the rest of their family. Much love... Barbara Storey Lacy (Alpharetta, GA)

It's hard to capture in a few words someone who was larger than life. Growing up in Mtn. Park we knew Mr. Ayers always had time for young people and really cared how we were doing. He was so much fun with that twinkle in his eyes- Mtn. park had its own movie star! My sister and I will forever be grateful that he was there during the final years for our Dad. In a split second he was at the house and Dad was so comforted that Lew would come to his aid. I can only say to Mrs. Ayers, my special friend Jan, Lew Jr. Judy and the many family members you are in my heart today because I know yours is so sad. I hope you find some comfort that Mr. Ayers was surrounded by love and laughter, touched so many lives, did so much good and will live on in many.
My Prayers and Love are with You,

Joyce and all the Ayers, you all know what Lew and your whole family has meant to me. If I can be half the father, husband, and man that Big Lew was I'll have lived a life to be proud of. Love always from our family to yours.
