MEGLEY, Nettie
It is with heavy hearts our family announces the passing of our mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Nettie Megley (nee Anastasia Shewchuk) on May 13, 2016 at the age of 93 years.
Nettie will be fondly remembered by her children, Lorna Stefaniuk (Don), Julia Elaschuk (Tom), Pat Rowland (Jim), Olli Megley (Jeff McIntyre), and Jim Megley (Margaret); her seven grandchildren and their spouses; eight great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and church friends. Nettie is survived by her sisters, Kathleen Huculak and Eleanor Romanko; her brother, Steve Shewchuk; and her sisters-in-law, Esther Megley, and Doris Megley.
Nettie was predeceased by her husband, Metro; parents, Michael and Christina; brother, Paul; sisters, Elana and Lena (Tatarin); and Metro's parents; brothers and sisters.
Nettie's roots are in the Willingdon/Andrew area, but for the last several decades she lived in north-east Edmonton where she and Metro were active members of the church, familiar faces at bingo and Macdonald's morning coffee, and hosts of numerous family and friend events where her talent as a cook and baker shone. Later, as a resident of Dnipro, her proximity to the church made her a valued and enthusiastic member of the perogy crew, and a regular at Church services!
Prayer Service Thursday, May 19 at 7:00 p.m. at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10951 - 107 Street, Edmonton.
Funeral Rite Friday, May 20 at 10:00 a.m. at St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral with interment in St. Michael's Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. John's Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, 10951 – 107 Street, Edmonton, AB T5H 2Z5.
