Sterl, I was glad to call you my friend for many years after being introduced by Minnie to the Hughes Family in Wilkes-Barre. It was always good to talk to you at parties about family and our love for sharing stories about our time with our sons, particularly, and coaching. I'm sure Minnie was your rock and you were hers. I've know her since she was a baby and I'll always be known as her Uncle Bobby. I've talked to Ze' and told him to keep his head up, work hard, keep his good grades, and that you'll be watching over him from above and that I'll be watching him from the sidelines.

Please say hello to Nanny Bert up there for me, as my family had to say our good-byes yesterday to my beloved Mom.

May you rest in peace brother!

You never know how many people you've touched until God calls you home, the sincerity of Sterling's heart made him the man he was and how he could light up a room with his humorous side and huge smile. I have never in all my time knowing Sterling ever seen him out of character, such a caring person, so real and secure in who he was, a loving father and husband without a doubt. I thank God for allowing our paths to cross, for allowing me to encounter such a great human being. Basketball was our introduction to one another and where we had many encounters, but in a game that is based on being tough within those lines this guy had the heart of a champion and you could never be mad or angry at Sterling. Thanks for being who you were for all that encountered you and even though I really never said this to you, I love you my brother and know that you're sitting with the Lord as I write to you. Spread your wings and fly, no more pain or anquish just love and happiness. You will be truly missed, R.I.P my friend !! Your friend & Big Brother " Tiny "

Sterling was a blessing to my family and most of all my brother Buddy. He was a loving, kind man and one of Buddy's few friends that I felt comfortable being around growing up as a kid.
