Isabel Santoro Obituary

Isabel Juliet Santoro
11/8/2001 - 3/16/2016

Isabel Juliet Santoro, age 14, died at Sutter Medical Center in Roseville, Calif. on March 16, 2016. Isabel was born November 8, 2001 in San Francisco, Calif. to Marc and Lauren Santoro.
Isabel was a Freshman at Whitney High School in Rocklin, Calif. In elementary school she was a member of Girl Scout troops in Heart of Central California. She played in school bands - first saxophone in 4th grade, then flute from 5th to 9th grades.
An early love of singing and performing led Isabel to participate in community theater. She performed in several shows at Sun City Lincoln Hills, Granite Springs Church, Rocklin Youth Theater Company and Roseville Summer Youth Theater. Her talents became evident at age 5, when she sang a solo in her first show, "Santa's Frosty Follies" in Sun City. She had roles in Lincoln Theater Company youth performances and was recently Miss Hannigan in "Annie Jr."
Isabel is survived by her parents, Marc and Lauren Santoro, grandparents, uncles, aunts and cousins. We take heart that her Gift of Life organ donations have saved lives. Isabel was a beautiful, talented, shining star and a joy to all who knew her.

Isabel was always so positive and always had a smile on her face. She made time in class so much more enjoyable. I can not imagine where Id be if I hadnt met her, she helped me through freshman year. She was an amazing person, and an even better friend. Thank you Isabel, for being there and for being you. I miss you, but am so grateful for the memories you gave me.

Avery said every time she pictures Isabel, it is with a smile on her face. We enjoyed getting to know her during the plays they did together. She was such a bright light and so very talented. We remember her fondly and think of her whenever we see the "Izzy" prop in each Lincoln Theatre Company production. Avery was honored to receive the first annual scholarship in Isabel's name. She keeps the award on her desk and remembers Isabel often. Wishing her family all the best.

I have countless joyful memories from when you were small, but it was really special to see you again after so many years and connecting with you as a young woman, nerdy and proud of it, happy to be different. I'm grateful to have been a part of your life, however small, and I wish we'd had more time to get to know each other again. I will miss you and I remember your radiance always.

I remember Isabel every night when I pray for us all to make it to Heaven. I'm reminded of her when playing flute, because of all of the pieces we would play in middle school, and I sometimes wonder if she's been able to see all that we've accomplished on Earth in one year.

Dearest Isabel, being asked to be your Godmother was one of the greatest honors in my life. I only wish that meant I had the power to keep you safe and free of all the stress, pain and anguish that happens as we go through life and that we could have kept you safe until you could stand on your own.
But none of us who loved you were able to do that. And now you are free of all earthly pain and we must go forward in our own lives with a large, vacant space that used to be filled with your amazing presence sustained by all our memories of you. Be at peace and look down on us with love. Your loving Auntie Fairy Godmother

Isabel, a bright fun spirited girl that always encouraged me to smile. I will forever remember her laugh and the carefree time we spent at Capitola during one of the Begonia Festival weekends! May she be splashing in waves, walking on sand beaches and looking to the horizon with a smile on her face for as long as her spirit wishes.

Isabel,
We kind of fell out of touch when we became older during middle school but I still remember the memories I had with you during elementary, and when I saw you again on Halloween dressed up as Daryl and I was dressed up as Carl it was hilarious and fun, I learned we have very similar fandoms, supernatural, walking dead, etc. I wish I would've have asked for your number or something to stay in touch and talk more than we did. I give you my love.

I'd have to say my favorite memories were the late nights we'd stay up texting and having heart to hearts until like 1am, i always loved those because i felt like you truly understood and cared for me as i did you. You will always be in my memory, <3

I had the privilege to meet you once, but it only took that one time to make a permanent impression. The light that shined within you was bright and radiant. Isabel, I didn't get the chance to see you grow into a beautiful and talented young lady but your Mom's posts on Facebook kept us all aware of how special you were. I do however, remember your Mom's growing tummy and all the anticipation of your arrival. You and my grandson were born only a short time apart. You were bright eyed and completely adorable. You left us too soon but we are so much better for having you in our lives for a short time.

May she rest in peace. Amen.

Dear Isabel, When you were baptized I vowed to myself to do whatever I could to help you, should you ever need my help. As a little one you were so energetic and cheerful whenever I visited your family. Through the years I was very impressed with you: your self-composure in difficult situations; your acting career; your wonderful singing voice. You always seemed to have a lot of joy and a bit of mischief in you. I was especially impressed with how you took to your newborn cousin, Rollins. After his birth you considered becoming a pediatric physician one day. I wanted to help keep those dreams alive, however I could. You remain in our thoughts and hearts.

I remember beautiful Isabel when she was growing up and accompanying her Mom delivering Avon. Isabel enjoyed her "job" keeping Mom company and meeting new people. It was such a pleasure seeing her develop into a young lady and fearlessly acting. She was quite talented. I was very impressed and looked forward to seeing her. What a delight!

One of my fondest memories of Isabel took place during our eighth grade P.E. class. We were practicing soccer, when she suddenly said in a random voice, "Hi I'm Steve. I'm a goat and I just want a second chance on life". This led to the creation of many characters that only we knew of, each with its own unique voice and speech patterns. We created our own world. I never agreed with anyone more than I agreed with Isabel. She is an amazing, wonderful person.

November 15, 2016

There's this one memory of Isabel I always laugh at and randomly remember: We were in eighth grade and at an LHS band concert, and they were in the middle of playing a piece. It was after intermission and Isabel bought a Madeline cookie that was wrapped in plastic. When she opened it, it flew out and landed under someone's chair, and we and our friends were laughing uncontrollably, but really silently, since it was a concert, ha. I remember our best times were in eighth grade in Disney Land, and how we'd reference South Park every day. We had physics together and built a bridge for a project and it was great. I really miss her a lot, she's amazing.

Isabel I remember the day you were born - so amazing with your full head of dark hair. We moved from North Carolina back to California because we wanted to be a part of your life. Each time you came up from the Bay Area was a joyful occasion. We went to the park, splashed in a wading pool, colored, played games and read books - like "The Velveteen Rabbit" which always made me cry. When you moved to Lincoln we saw even more of you, which made us so happy. We were, and are so proud of you, for your musical talents, your acting, and for being a wonderful person. You tried to be friendly to everyone, and brought us all joy with your smile and laughter. I miss our hugs and our French toast mornings when you slept over. I miss driving you to school and events, and going shopping together. I remember our trips to Santa Cruz, Monterey, and New York (for Uncle Jimmy's & Jessica's wedding. Our trip to L.A. after cousin Rollins was born was so special. The look on your face when you held him was one of pure love. You are in our hearts now and forever, my darling girl.

Isabel I love remembering all the funny moments we shared. Like when you slept over and were really scared by "Call of Duty" and we had a lot of fun. And getting in trouble in Musy's class because you would make me laugh in dead silence. I also love all the moments we got to share in band. You made band awesome. You always made everyone smile. I love you. Emily Alexander

One of my favorite memories was my first sleepover. We were at Emily's house for her 14th birthday and I couldn't sleep. I was sitting against the wall listening to music and Isabel, being a little carrot in her orange sleeping bag, sat up and stared at me in her sleep. I asked "What?" and she just kept staring at me shaking her head. I asked her in the morning about it and she didn't remember any of it. It was scary then, but I can't help laughing about it now.

Isabel, you have been an amazing friend, better than anything I could have ever wished for. When I first met you, I could not have know how important you would be in my life. In the years we shared, we have come up with more worlds and had more adventures than I could have predicted. You touched the lives of everyone you met in the best way, and I feel that I have become a better person because of you. I know that you will always be with me, and the many people you loved.

There is way too much I want to write about my best friend. The one thing I loved the most about her is that every time I was with her she filled me with happiness. I felt very lonely until she came into my life.
My favorite time we spent together was when I went over to her house to watch our favorite show, Supernatural. We watched the musical episode, our favorite, and we would sing all the songs together. Isabel filled me with joy and happiness and I am so glad she was able to be in my life.

My dear sweet Isabel, I miss you so much. When I met you...I knew you were special. I don't know how we were so fortunate that our lives somehow intersected when it did. It was meant to be. The impact you have had on EJ really turned his life around for the better. You were his angel then as you are one now. Your little laugh, your bright smile and the way you creatively expressed your viewpoints of how you saw the world always brought a smile to our faces. We love you...we will never stop missing you...you were much much stronger than you or any of us could've imagined...rest in peace baby girl

Dearest Isabel, You will always live in my heart as the angelic infant I helped baptize, the laughing baby on my lap featured on my Facebook page, the rambunctious 2 year old running back and forth singing "The Circle of Life" from the "Lion King" and the wonderful young actress who brought the character of Miss Hannigan to life in "Annie". I thought you had great talent and many gifts to bring to the world for many years to come.
