Marilyn Sullivan Chase

PORT BYRON < Mrs. Marilyn Carpenter Sullivan Chase, 82, of 1842 Briggs Road, Port Byron, passed away Tuesday, May 9, 2006, at Auburn Memorial Hospital. A resident of Port Byron for the past 10 years, she had previously resided in Weedsport for many years. A graduate of Auburn West High School, Marilyn had been employed with Alco during World War II, and in later years at GE, retiring from the Auburn school district as a bus driver. She was a member of Our Lady of Snows Parish and attended St. Joseph"s Church, Weedsport. Among her hobbies were bird watching and cake decorating. However, it was her family and friends she enjoyed the most. Surviving are her children, Georgia Spedding (Edward) of Seneca Falls, David W. Chase of Port Byron, Wendy Kastick (Craig) of Port Byron, Alan Chase (Laurie Raeman) of Phelps, John C. Chase (Carol) of Cortland; 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two sisters, Helen Johnston of Auburn and Geraldine Badman of Moravia; sister-in-law, Shirley Carpenter of Auburn; brother-in-law, William (Diane) Chase of Cato; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, George T. Sullivan in 1947, and John W. Chase in 2000; her brothers, Edwin, Raymond and Leo Carpenter; and her parents, C. Eugene and Beatrice Gilbert Carpenter. Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today, May 11, at Farrell"s Funeral Service Inc., 84 South St., Auburn. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Friday, in St. Joseph"s Church, Weedsport, with the Rev. Malachy Nwosu, pastor, as celebrant. Interment will be in Our Lady of the Lake Cemetery, King Ferry.
