Gamal Pharm Obituary

AUGUSTA, Ga.- Dr. Gamal Abou-Mohamed Pharm, D. Ph.D., 45, was born and raised in Egypt. He graduated first with a Bachelors in 1982 and then a Masters degree in Pharmacy from Mansoura University in 1988. He then began his doctoral education in the same university. He was enrolled in a competitive exchange student program from the Egyptian government that brought him to the United States in 1989. He joined the research laboratory of Dr. William Caldwell. Chairman of the Pharmacology Department Medical College of Georgia and subsequently obtained his doctoral degree in Pharmacology in 1992. Since then, he has been employed at MCG intermittently as a post-doctoral associate and most recently as an assistant professor. He has also held teaching positions at Sultanate of Oman and was also a faculty member of Mansoura University, Egypt. Gamal was married to Nagla and they have two sons and a daughter. His funeral is to be held in Egypt. However, there will also be a memorial service at MCG on Wednesday the 25th of February at 1:15 p.m., in the small auditorium. Gamal was beloved by all who knew him. His memories will forever be cherished by his loving wife, children, family and friends. Arrangements by H.M. Patterson & Son Funeral Directors, Atlanta. Nagla,

My deepest sympathy and my prayers are with you and your family every step of the way. Gamal will surely be missed by all who knew him. Have a safe trip back home and I will see you when you return. Kiss the children for me.
