Mary Becton

AUGUSTA, Ga. - Entered into rest Wednesday, May 13, 2015, Mrs. Mary Beth Becton, 82, loving wife to Dr. James L. Becton for 55 years. Mrs. Becton was a native of Orangeburg, SC, daughter of Dr. Wriston and Thelma Conrad. She has lived in Augusta most of her adult life. She was a graduate of the University of South Carolina and taught school in Augusta for several years. She was a member of Wood Valley Garden Club, Bulbs and Borders Garden Club and Readers of Augusta. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Augusta and the Friendship Sunday School Class. Family members in addition to her husband include her son: Dr. James Louis Becton, Jr. and his wife Dr. Lollie Becton; daughter: Dr. Elizabeth Conrad Becton; grandchildren: James H. Becton, Sullins C. Becton, Bennett V. Becton, and Marion B. Becton; and brother: Brock Conrad, Jr. and his wife Lorraine. The family would like to thank the Augusta medical community for their love, care, and support. Funeral services will be held Friday, May 15, 2015 at 11:00 A.M. in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church with Dr. Timothy Owings officiating. Burial will follow in Westover Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Thursday evening from 6:00 until 8:00 P.M. at the family residence.
