Ruby Mitchell Wingate

ROCK HILL, S.C. - Ruby Mitchell Wingate passed away peacefully July 12, 2005 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Whit and Anne Mitchell and preceded in death by husband, William G. Wingate, Sr., and 14 brothers and sisters. Mrs. Wingate was a retired employee of Smart Shop and was a member of St. Johns United Methodist Church in Rock Hill. She was a 50 year member of Catawba Chapter of Eastern Star and a former Worthy Matron. Survivors are sons, William G. Wingate, Jr., and wife Lib, from Augusta, Alex Wingate and wife Peggy, from Goldsboro, N.C., and Donnie Wingate and wife Dale, from Chester; grandchildren, Trey Wingate and wife Manon, Johnny Wingate and wife Amanda, Allan Wingate from Augusta, Ga., Andy Wingate and wife Sonya, Mary Franklin and husband Craig from Goldsboro, N.C., Heidi Hannam and husband Matt, from Fort Myers, Fla., Tammy Redd and husband Jim, from Greer, Jason Wingate and wife Shannon, from Lincolnton, N.C., Donnie Jacobs and wife Leslie, Kevin Jacobs and wife Alexa, from Chester. She was also survived by 17 great-grandchildren and 23 nephews and nieces. Family will receive friends Friday, July 15, 2005 at Bass-Cauthen Funeral Home at 700 Heckle Blvd., Rock Hill, from 6-8:30 p.m. Funeral services will be Saturday, July 16, 2005 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Johns United Methodist Church on Oakland Ave., Rock Hill, with Rev. Gary McWhorter, Rev. Mary Nichols and Rev. Terry Wingate officiating. Burial will be at Laurel Wood Cemetery, Rock Hill, following the service. Pallbearers will be Trey Wingate, Johnny Wingate, Allan Wingate, Andy Wingate, Jason Wingate, Craig Franklin, Jim Redd and Tripp Sherer. Honorary Pallbearers will be Browning Sykes Sunday School Class, St. Johns United Methodist Church and Catawba Chapter of Eastern Stars.
