Antonio Canepa Obituary

Antonio Canepa, born April 10, 1925 in Sicily, husband, and father went to his home in heaven, on June 19, 2005 surrounded by his family. Antonio was one of eleven brothers and one sister, with five surviving brothers. Survived by his precious and devoted wife Mary of 45 years, sons, Patrick and wife Theresa, and Nick. His second son Nick was waiting for him in heaven to greet and hug his father again. Grandchildren, Jake and Veronica Cohen, Joseph and April Garner, Steve Stevens and girlfriend Lesa. And many beautiful Great Grandchildren, all there to support him and bring him joy. A family that could never be replaced in Chicago, most especially, Connie Duca and sons Reno and Tina Duca and children, and Frank Duca. Thank you. Surviving brothers, Joe Erico, Francisco, Baldazar and Antonio and their revered wives and children, numerous nephews and nieces. A special treat for him was being able to see at least one nephew and his wife, Tony and Rose Canepa. He truly missed and loved every family member of his and will be missed and loved by all of us. Antonio was always known for his sense of humor and playfullness, was a humble and hardworking man. He worked as a barber for 57 years. He worked and sacrificed to provide a home, food and clothing for his wife and children, but his greatest legacy as a man, husband and father was showing us by example, that nothing is more important than God and your devotion to him, and to follow what the prophet Micah said; "Only to do right and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God." Thank you, Dad, Nino, Tony. We couldn't thank you enough, and we will always love you. Visitation, Wednesday June 22 from 5:00-8:00pm at Paradise Chapel, 40th St & Indian School, Rosary at approx 6:00pm. Funeral mass is Thursday 9:00am at St. Theresa's Church, 52nd St & Thomas, Interment at St. Francis Cemetery. Reception to follow at Antonios home.
