On September 14, 2009 Evelyn Mary Findlay Thomas' generous and loving spirit left her body in the comfort of her home at Westminster Village, Scottsdale. Evie was born on June 5, 1923 to William and Evelyn Kinmond Findlay in Milwaukee, WI where she grew up. She was preceded in death by her husband Bruce, the love of her life, and her dear son John. Evie and Bruce raised their family in Madison, WI before moving to Scottsdale in 1980. Evie will forever be cherished by her children Kathleen (Robert) Brumder, Michael (Janice) Thomas, David (Linda) Thomas, beloved as Nana by her 11 grandchildren, 2 great granddaughters, appreciated by her "adopted son" Boone Trawally and remembered by her Scottish cousins. Evie began each day with a prayer of gratitude for the many blessings in her life. She lived a life of commitment to helping others, eagerness to learn, compassion, acceptance and engaging conversations. Her treasured friendships kept her vital and active until the end of her life. Evie found serenity in the quiet beauty of the Arizona desert, the blue waters of Door County, Wisconsin and the sparkling water of the Sea of Cortez, Mexico.. There is no doubt that the night sky will shine brighter with Evie joining the stars and moon. Evie and her family are grateful beyond words to the angels who cared for her from Westminster Village and The Hospice of the Valley, Scottsdale. There will be a private family burial. A celebration of Evie's life will be held on December 12 at Westminster Village.
