Francis Nixon Obituary

Nixon, Francis Jerome "Jerry"
Francis Jerome "Jerry" Nixon, 77, was a devoted family man who was passionate about life. He was peacefully taken into the Lord's hands on the eve of St. Patrick's Day surrounded by his loving wife, Barbara and family. Jerry was born in a farm house in Greene Co. Iowa on April 12, 1934 to John and Josephine (Coler) Nixon. He arrived in Phoenix as a child in 1946 and met his wife at St. Mary's High School. Jerry was an active member of St. Daniels parish. He had a long career at Air Research (Honeywell) and retired after 36 years with the company. He will be missed by the love of his life of 58 years, Barbara, his children, Shawn (Laura), Dennis, Kelly (Kynda), Dan, Kaitlynn (Drew) and his adoring grandchildren Shane (Susan), Hayley (Max), Jessica, Ashley, Joshua, Zane, Jerome, Justin, Annika, Jarrett, Makayla, Cheney, Ainsley and his great-grandsons Connor and Mason. His family was his greatest passion. He loved spending time and sharing moments at his cabin in Forest Lakes fly-fishing, bow hunting and hiking with his grandchildren. He will best be remembered by his passion for life and how he made everyone he met feel special and loved. Visitation will be at 9:30am on Wednesday, March 28th at St. Anne Catholic Church, 440 E. Elliot Road, Gilbert followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Graveside Service will be held at 12:30pm on Thursday, March 29th at Green Acres Cemetery, 401 N. Hayden Road, Scottsdale

Jean (Nixon) Pagano - sister

March 19, 2024

Is it a baby cow? A baby horse? A baby pig? These were the questions Jean Nixon Pagano, Jerry's sister, asked when she was told there was a surprise for her on the day Jerry was born. Jean misses her "living saint" as she always calls him. So does Mary Jo and family.

Uncle Jerry. Words have no meaning for me here. I will miss you more than you can imagine. Love to my dear Aunt Barb and all the wonderful cousins.

Uncle Jerry,

Andrea and I are so grateful that we were able to spend time with you together. We hope to boast the same strong relationship that you and Barb showed us is possible. Andrea will always remember her times at the cabin and we will both look back on the fond memories of our reception. We love you and miss you.

Barb and Family,

If we could possibly have been at the service, we would have been. Frank (Scotty) was in Scottsdale Healthcare at the time. Lots of good memories of St. Dan's, Coronado and AiResearch. He sure was a good guy.

We will greatly miss our Uncle Jerry. While we were miles apart from him, he has always been a positive influence to our family. He showed us that love is not confined to the immediate family, but to grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, grandchildren and to friends. And when you needed him, he was always there. He was the epitome of an uncle. We've always looked toward Uncle Jerry to “lead the kids”, whether it be on a hike, camping trip or fishing off his dock. Now we must all carry on his legacy and “lead the kids”. Thank you Uncle Jerry for being a truly inspiring uncle.

Everyone who knew Jerry, had great admiration and the utmost respect for him. His kind and gentle Irish spirit will be greatly missed but not forgotten…The Nixon family will carry on those loving traditional memories and family values he's instilled in all of us. No matter what, Jerry was always there for us. Now it's your time to rest in peace, Papa, and enjoy your eternal life with your loving father and your loved ones who have passed before you. We will miss you greatly, but know you are watching over us with your loving soul. Thank you for being part of my life.

Shawn,
I was so sorry to hear about your father. As I read about his love for life and engineering career I realized how you got those great qualities. What wonderful gifts for a father to give a son. My thoughts are with you.
