William Hayes Obituary

William ("Bill") B. Hayes, 71, passed away suddenly on April 17, 2006 in perhaps his most cherished place on this earth, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. He was born on July 4, 1934 in Chinute, Kansas. He was a U.S. Army veteran and a member of Genesis Lodge No. 305 F. & A.M., Edmonds Washington, Scottish Rite, and Nile Temple Shriners in Seattle, Washington. He retired from Boeing Corporation in 1994 where he had many close friendships. He spent 30 + years in the Seattle area and currently resided in Phoenix, Arizona. While in Phoenix he pursued his passion in aviation by helping others at Sky Harbor Airport as a Navigator. He is survived by a loving friend Peter Urbaniak, brother Richard, nieces and nephews, and other close and loving friends. He was a beautiful man with a caring heart. He will be dearly missed by his Phoenix family. Visitation will be Saturday, April 22, 2006, 2-6pm at Hansen Mortuary 8314 N. 7th St. Phoenix, AZ. Services will begin at 6pm. Following the services "A Toast to Bill" and continued celebration of his life will be at Miggy B's, formerly Pookies Cafe, 4540 N. 7th St. Phoenix, AZ. We love you Bill, until we meet again....

Thank you all for your kind words and for being part of Bill's family. He truely loved every part of his life and his many many friendships. Let's all try to keep smiling just as Bill would. That damn smile of his was so infectious. Your in my heart and thoughts forever Bill.

As I prepare to go to the airport for my Wednesday volunteer shift today, I know this is the first time that Bill will not be there. Just seeing him coming in my direction from half a terminal away made me smile! I know that he loved Puerto Vallarta and too his Elite status with America West.

He was always doing something, whether traveling or seeing a show. A good role model for all of us, an aura of kindness. I will miss Bill. I'm better for having known him.

I have known Bill for about a year, when I resided in Phoenix. Bill made me laugh! He always had something funny to say, and always made me feel better when I was upset! I was hospitalized for my Crohn's Disease and Bill prayed for me...he gave me his St. Francis Charm to wear around my neck, and a prayer to go along with it. Bill lit candles for me during and after my hospitalization. Now, I will light one for him. Bill will exist in my heart and in my memory always. No matter where I live on this earth, I know I can look up at a bright blue sky and see Bill, resting comfortably as he should be forever.

I miss you Bill. I Love You!!!

Although I haven't known Bill for very long, I really enjoyed volunteering at the airport with him. He was always a pleasure to be around. He always had a smile on his face and he always made me laugh. He will be missed tremendously.
