My deepest condolences to Sal and all Johnny's family upon his passing. He was always open, generous, and caring. I worked along with Sal at the Mint in the last 80's, early 90's. They always seemed like the ideal couple. I also remember visiting the house in Amite with Matt. Much love to all and stay well.

To Sal; to Nell, Bobby, Flo, and all Johnny's family; please accept my condolences on your loss. I am deeply saddened by Johnny's death; I will miss him. He was my friend, indeed he was the friend of anybody he met. Johnny had a heart of gold.
I will never forget the time I had a fall at school and was transported to the ER at Hood's by ambulance. Not being able to drive, a friend called Johnny and without hesitation, he and Sal picked me up at the ER and brought me home.
And was Johnny ever a good cook! Whenever I went to New Orleans, my brother and I would always do lunch at his Metairie restaurant, The Joker. The food was that good old Southern country home cooking, and it was so good the place was always packed. We had to get there early if we wanted to be seated. We would often find people standing outside, waiting for an empty table.
I remember one time Johnny and Sal visiting, they talked about coming over and working on all my plants & trees. He loved plants, and flowers. I gave him some oregano from my herb garden which he liked.
So many people loved Johnny for the person he was, he truly had a loving heart and a giving nature.
Johnny, the world's not going to be the same without you in it. But in your time here on earth, you touched the lives of a lot of people, including me. I will miss you, my friend.
May God give your loved ones strength and comfort at this time.
Phyllis

Such a wonderful Soul, full of character, I knew Jonny only a short time, he loved flowers as well as so many other things. We shared several bulbs, and plants and from here on out every time they bloom I will think of Johnny. Sal I am so sorry for your loss. We at the Department of wound care are keeping you and family in our prayers. The world is a little less bright without Johnny in it .

I WAS JUST SHOCKED WHEN I REALIZED IN CHURCH SUNDAY, THIS PRECIOUS PERSON HAD DIED. I HAD JUST GREETED HIM IN CHURCH LAST SUNDAY AND TOLD HIM I WAS SO GLAD TO SEE HIM, AND ASKED IF HE WOULD BE WITH US NEXT SUNDAY AND HE SAID OF COURSE UNLESS GOD CALLS ME HOME FIRST . I GUESS GOD NEEDED ANOTHER ANGEL TO WORSHIP HIM BEFORE HIS GLORIOUS THRONE. I WILL CERTAINLY MISS YOU IN CHURCH ON SUNDAYS BROTHER JOHNNY. YOU WILL BE MISSED BY ALL OF US .

I was so saddened to hear of Johnny's passing. I only have fond memories of him as a person but , ohhh my goodness, I miss his food, too, what an incredible cook !! From time to time he would help me at Blythewood when I was making something we don't normally cook and of course, it would be delicious. Rest in peace my dear friend. I miss you already. Prayers being sent to Sal and the family.

Everybody and I do mean EVERYBODY in Amite loved Johnny! I was so saddened to learn of his passing. He was absolutely one of the kindest
people I have ever known. When Daryl passed on Johnny sent the most delicious Lemon Cake to the luncheon
afterwards. Alan and I were quite touched by it and both of us send our heartfelt condolences to Sal and all his family.

If there is one word to describe Johnny, I think it would be "joyful". He embraced life with joy and spread it to everyone he met. I have so many good memories from when we were young, Easter extravaganzas, Mardi Gras Ball, The French Quarter, shopping. He loved life and made you love it, too. I have never met a kinder man. When I came home last year, Johnny was the first person who wanted to throw me a dinner party as soon as he heard I was back. So much love there, after not seeing each other for many years. I hated to see his health was bad, but his enthusiasm did not waver. He is suffering no more and in the arms of Jesus now. Godspeed old friend, as you continue to watch over all of us from afar. Love never dies. Sincere condolences to Sal and all the family. I know there is a better place and he is there now..
