Olga Berrios Winston
1921 - 2017
Olga Berrios Winston passed away on December 9, 2017 in Vancouver, Washington. She was born Olga Julia Margarita Berrios Tavarez on March 30, 1921 to Geronimo Berrios and Gertrudis Tavarez de Berrios in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She grew up in Santurce and graduated from the University of Puerto Rico.
Olga and her husband, Alberto Dominguez, moved to Bakersfield with their four children where she taught Spanish in the local high schools for over 30 years. Upon the death of her second husband, Frank Hathaway Winston, Olga returned to teaching at California State University, Bakersfield, until her retirement at the age of 81. Olga loved teaching and she held lively and engaging classes. She was well regarded and loved by her many students.
Olga leaves behind her children, Al, Carlos, and Gloria Dominguez and Olga Savage, 12 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A rosary will be held on Tuesday, December 19 at 1:00 p.m. followed by funeral services at 2:00 p.m. at Hillcrest Memorial Park, 9101 Kern Canyon Road, Bakersfield.

I would like to send condolences to Olga's children and grand children. I am Heidi Winston, Daughter of Tom Winston, Frank Winston's brother. I live in Boston, MA with my family. I met Olga at a family reunion in Colorado 28 years ago. I remember her as a kind and fun person, and I really enjoyed meeting her. I am sure you all miss her very much. Take care and perhaps We will meet one day.
