Allen Carl Heyman

1940 - 2022

Allen Carl Heyman, also known as Pipe, was born June 17, 1940, in Baltimore, to the late Sylvia (Schein) and Robert Heyman. He passed away peacefully at Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County on February 19, 2022 at the age of 81. He was the loved and loving husband of Marcia Sue (Kramer) for 40 years. He is also survived by his beloved sisters Gayle Fader and Sharon Levin. He was the father of Shelley Kanagy (Ron) and Greg Heyman (Anne) and grandfather of Angela (Jake), Nicole, Samantha and Jessica. He is also survived by his loving niece, Susanne Forno (Tony) and their children Joey and Gia, and his Aunt, Trudy Grant (Murray).



In 1960, Allen enlisted in the Navy and served for 4 years.



After his years of service, Allen was employed by the United States Post Office for 41 years, spending much of his career delivering mail in 21209. He was known as Pipe because of the corncob pipe he smoked for many years.



He and Marcia loved to travel to Lancaster, PA and visited all 50 states, traveling to New England last year. To celebrate Allen's 80th birthday in 2020, these crazy lovebirds took a cross country train trip during the height of the pandemic and had a blast.



Allen was diagnosed with vascular dementia in 2019 and until recently lived a full and joyful life. His death was caused by vascular dementia and complications from two recent falls.



Allen also loved and cared for many cats over the years. He took great joy in caring for them. He enjoyed watching movies and always enjoyed a charred steak or extra done piece of chicken. If it wasn't like shoe leather, it wasn't done enough. And between the hours of 12:30 – 1:30, please do not interrupt or preempt the Young and the Restless.



As his last unselfish act, he donated his body to the Maryland State Anatomy Board.



The family will be receiving at home, 1308 Walkabout Court, Sykesville, MD 21784 (park on Lee Lane) on Sunday, February 27th from 12-5. We ask that unvaccinated visitors please wear masks. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Gilchrist Hospice of Howard County, 6336 Cedar Lane, Columbia, MD 21044 or to any animal charity of your choice.
