Carol R. Yanchik

1936 - 2022

Carol Ruth Yanchik (Serhan), 85, of Lutherville-Timonium, Maryland, passed away Saturday, May 14, 2022, at Care Dimensions Hospice House in Lincoln, Massachusetts.

Carol was born on September 16, 1936, to the late John and Betty Michaels Serhan in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. She was a 1954 graduate of GAR Memorial High School. She married Joseph A. Yanchik in 1961 and was the proud mother of two children. She was later blessed with a granddaughter, Olivia, who was the light of her life. Carol had the ability to make friends and all family feel as if they were her own. She had a great sense of humor, won numerous awards throughout her career as a mortgage officer, had an unusual affinity for peanut M&Ms, and was an early member of the congregation that helped to build Saint Mary Orthodox Church in Hunt Valley, MD.

Carol is survived by her loving children, Joseph A. Yanchik III. and his wife Dr. Jamilyn Hughes Yanchik of Massachusetts, daughter, Beth Anne Yanchik, of Maryland; granddaughter, Olivia M. Yanchik; sisters, Christine S. Merlie and Betty Jean Serhan of Pennsylvania; and many cherished nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death are her husband of 48 years, Joseph A. Yanchik, siblings, Marion Licata, John Serhan, Geraldine Moules and Gloria Miller; beloved nephews, Mark S. Merlie, Jonathan Moules, and Kristopher Moules.

Services will be held at Ruck Funeral Home of Towson, MD on May 20, 2022, from 4 to 7 pm and at Mamary-Durkin Funeral Home in Wilkes-Barre, PA on May 21, 2022, from 12 to 2pm.
